I grew up and became a fan during the days of Sittler (and Tiger, Borje, Lanny, Turnbull, and Palmateer).
Sittler was my first ever sports hero.
I can’t imagine how much it means to Marner to be in that company – he’s much younger than me, but you can’t grow up in TO without the name of Sittler hanging prominently in your consciousness.
Was rooting for Marner to get that point and hopes he gets another against the Bolts.
He’s been through a ton on this team, good bad and ugly. But he deserves this accolade.
Marner the MULE
It’s good and all but these players are so elite that it’s not even that big of a deal. The truth is that there isn’t a leafs all time team that stacks up against others in the original six. Many records will be broken. That’s why fans are so hard on guys like Marner. We don’t need these records to show he could be one of the greatest Leafs, he already is a top 5 most talented leaf all time IMO. A cup would put him and Matthews at 1 and 2 all time.
