  1. How do you completely leave out game seven of the Stanley Cup Final? The score was close even though they lost, but they accomplished a lot and there’s much to be proud of and learn from. The Oilers were the underdogs and Cinderella story of the playoffs, to not show the final and the emotion of it is like pretending it didn’t happen. Odd.

  2. I think I was 12 when we had this run it was one of the funniest themes I ever had watching the oilers

  3. Still think Edmonton wins the Cup if Roloson doesn’t get injured, Edmonton handed them the first 2 games after that happened.

  4. Awesome to see this, great video….I was living in Hong Kong for work and as the internet was in its infancy, there was no live streaming of games, but I could listen to the whole run over the internet using radio on 630 CHED, what a ride it was

  5. @RandomActsCanada
Been hunting this for nearly 14 years… almost gave up on ever getting a chance to watch it. You’d think OilersTV would post it (in HQ) after all these years…
    @RandomActsCanada… Thanks again!!

  6. It was one of the best years Edmonton has experienced. Definitely bittersweet. Only if roloson stayed healthy we would have won it

  7. Looking back at this team, it was quite remarkable really. Smyth, Torres, Stoll, Peca, Samsonov, Pronger, Roloson, Smith, Hemsky….. I mean…. that's a pretty solid core of guys right there. To take nothing away from the rest of the team. They ALL played their hearts out, and that's what made this run so special. They didn't win on fancy play. They won on heart and dedication.

Still a firm believer, that Carolina would not have defeated Roloson, but that may just be me. Markkanen was absolutely stellar in goal for them, given the way he was thrown in the deep end, and I think he put up a solid performance for the team.

Conklin…. well, mistakes happen. I can only imagine what was going through his mind and stomach, when he got the call to take over in game 1.

Will never forget this run to the cup, and hopefully, the new kids in town, can manufacture another one in the near future.

  8. Fuck Carolina. Now all they do is dance around on the ice like a bunch of pee wee players. embarassing.

  9. I’m a diehard Sabres fan, that cup should’ve belonged to the Sabres or the Oilers! The Hurricanes took 7 games to beat us with 4 of our top 6 defensemen out, and they took 7 games to beat the Oilers without Roloson. Least deserving Cup Champs in history!

  10. If Dwayne Roloson didn’t get hurt in game 1 of the finals the Oilers would have won the cup in 6 games.

  11. A season we Oilers fans can be really proud about! Shame that we didn't reach all the way but still a remarkable run!

  12. I wonder if Carolina fans were a little worried before the series started, knowing the oil took out the wings and did some amazing things.

  13. Fernando Pisani cemented his mark in oilers history with his performance in this run .

  14. So if Rolosson (forgive me if I misspelled his name) doesn’t get hurt in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, do the Oilers ultimately beat the Hurricanes?

  15. I really revisit the 2006 and 2017 playoff runs when the Oilers get into the playoffs again, and those were fantastic, I was born 1 year after, but my parents watched it and our friend Bradley took his son to one of the finals games, and I can tell that it was a great time. Now I was born after 2017, but I barely remember anything about it. I do remember being pissed when the Ducks won the series, and saltily chirping Ducks fans in the comments. That year was bad, all 4 of our favorite teams lost, the Ducks kicked the Flames and Oilers both (Yes I am a Flames fan, I am a fan of both Alberta teams, it sounds impossible but it isn't), and the Penguins kicked both the Capitals and Senators' ass, and they went on to win back-to-back Stanley Cups. And we all hated that because my dad HATES the Penguins! 2020 and 2021 were horrible. 2020 was pretty trash, they didn't even technically make it! And 2021 was worse because I was cheering all around Edmonton (in front of 137 Ave, Coliseum, and Rogers Place) and hoping that they would make it far. They didn't! They got their ass swept by the Jets and the Jets were my new least favourite team that year, I threw the jersey in the bathtub. So here's 2022, I am gonna do the same thing as 2021 cheering and getting drivers to honk, and cheering all around downtown and other places. I wanted to go to Whyte Avenue but it's hard to park there, and lots of sketchy people there. So maybe that's why they moved the celebrating area to downtown this year… And I want this year to be memorable and remembered like 2006 and 2017, and not absolute trash fire like 2020 and 2021. I highly doubt we will see a Conference Finals and/or Stanley Cup Finals appearance, but I am hoping that we meet the Flames in the second round. I am hoping for a great playoff run this year!

  16. Here in 2022. I hope oilers can create more meaningful memories during this playoff run.

  17. Man if Rollie didn’t get hurt I’m 100% sure the cup would’ve been bought back to Canada, but today Oilers are heading back to the western conference finals lead by McDavid n Draisaitl. Oilers just gotta get by the favourites to series Avalanche. GoOilersGo!!!!!

  18. I think it was Edmonton too, particularly Paul Lorieau RIP, who started the fans singsing the anthem.

  19. Smyth was a warrior powered by grit and determination. This team had all the elements of heart and talent.

  20. Game 3 vs Sharks watching Smyth back after his teeth being knocked out was unreal.
Pisani game 5 goal gives me chills to this day

  21. Great to watch,& ya would get back…15 yrs later to WCF,then got swept by my Avs.But in all seriousness,I picked ya this year to win the WCF rematch vs us…then lose to Carolina AGAIN…no joke. We will see-obviously I hope my Avs get back.

But the Oilers definitely grew up last season,& lost to 1 of the best teams in the cap era. My Avs are still real good, but not as good as last yr-at least today-& I think Edmonton learned a lot from that series. Kinda like Colorado losing game 7 to SJ,& Dallas…but especially getting taught a lesson by Vegas.

I expect Edmonton will get over that hurdle, but still have 1 more lesson to learn. I fully expect Connor & Leon will raise their 1st Cup in the next few yrs. But my Avs,& others-wont make it easy. This was an amazing team though,& fun to relive.
