Most of us are happy. The return would have been shit and signing him wasn’t an option. We hold him till things are disclosed and then we will have to cut ties or sign and trade. Can’t imagine he will ever wear a Sens jersey again but we’ll see what new ownership does.

He had a fairly typical contract history, 2nd rounder signed a ELC with 2 slide years in the OHL. He’s ineligible to play because it’s Dec 1, but he remains a RFA for the Senators until they presumably release him after next year’s draft (or longer). Jesse Pulijujarvi did that to the Oilers and came back and will play his required four years before he gets to be a free agent. His stats were nowhere near as good as Alex’s though
