  1. They will get hammered down in the playoffs like always. They are an adult safe hockey league team. Mathew's has cashed in big time and enjoys lengthy summer holidays every year

  2. They'll probably be up against the Bruins first round and I just don't believe they can pull it. Not being disrespectful to the leafs but the Bruins are just on a different level this year.

  3. Too much obsession with which round they make it out of. More attention should be paid on the quality of opponent they’ve faced in those first rounds. The ones that were inexcusable were the losses to the Habs and Blue Jackets.

  4. Imagine your goal being to get out of the 1st round when you have a team with Auston, Marner and Tavares…sheesh 😭

  5. Well all watched the Capitals win the cup just 5 seasons ago and we all picked them to lose every round they played, and right up until the last few minutes of the final game of that season we expected them to blow it BUT THEY DIDN’T! That said, Toronto could absolutely make a playoff run in the Spring.

  6. Well Murray saved Xmas and he’s gonna save rhe Leafs too. This year they finally get past the 1st round.

  7. This is a matter of maturity or lack thereof, bad luck, too much dependence on mercenaries, and a character issue, that has changed.

The likes of Marner, Matthews, Nylander, are more mature. The idea of trading away picks for certain players who then just leave, ie. Nick Folign, should not happen again. The luck factor, like injuries to Tavares, bad bounces, bad penalties, and coming from a strong division meaning that every first round is potentially harder than the second, are hurdles they simply have to jump.

Finally, you can see in the play and comments made by the aforementioned players, that wins, not personal stats and milestones are what matters. I see the way Marner is playing, and I don't think games without effort are going to happen. They still take their time getting going, but I am hoping that the goaltending is superior this time.

I'm 54 and I remember a time when the Leafs went into the playoffs a favourite, those days are done but they cannot stay gone forever.

  8. As a Leaf fan I'm worried. Nonis certainly didn't know value of talent when he was assistant GM and GM of the Leafs. Now he thinks the Leafs can make it out of the first round. Kidding aside, looks like the Leafs are going to play Tampa in the first round. So their chances of advancing …50% at best.

  9. no they wont , and they dont deserve to after ditching MLG for the ACC . They are cursed and rightly so , greedy bastards !

  10. If Nonis thinks they can make it out of the first round, well, you may as well expect the reverse of that. It's baffling how this failure clown ever had any type of career in hockey.

  11. Hey – go Leafs go! Problem for Leafs getting out of any playoff round are Bruins and Bolts! But hey – why not be positive & just cheer the Leafs on! You never know & everyone loves Charlie Brown – so why just enjoy the Life in a light hearted way & the Leafs? At least Leafs are extremely high paid & get lots of media coverage.

  12. flip of a coin really at this stage . with only this season and next with Matthews . They should get a rebuild going now with there track record . But keep that carrot dangling . 😉
