That game was so awesome to watch! Sens were not going to be denied on this one and 100% deserved a win for that amazing effort!!!!!

  2. I don't disagree with what is being said in this video but am I the only one thinks that as the number players of Brady Tkachuk's calibre increases, Brady Tkachuk (along with other skilled players) will become scrappier.
You can only use speed to blow by the defence of you are faster than you opponent – what would McDavid look like if half the NHL skated Dylan Larkin or Andreas Athanasious? (He'd still be the best in the world but he'd be less super human).
As for fighting, don't dwell on it. Emphasize the removal of cheap stuff. Skill development happens in the little leagues, the NHL just harvests the talent.

  3. I don't care about the fighting. As with all things there are pros and cons. Hockey is great sport to watch and a fantastic sport to play. Outside of the NHL and especially at lower levels there are some real nimrods who don't "get it" and in those venues it would certainly be better if the only thing to focus on was playing hockey. The notion of enforcement has some merit, but it seems like after seeing the evolution of teams grooming ever-bigger goons the world has turned away from enforcers and now the fights are often just emotional. If that's the compulsion I prefer playing without fights. And for watching, I think I'd prefer seeing a good check over a fight that stops the game but not by much. The NFL manages to restrain fighting so it can be done…I don't buy that it's integral to the game–it's just preference.

  4. As the Canadian saying goes, "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out."

I love a good scrap on the ice
    I love a good goon.
I think hockey needs more goonish behavior. I am not advocating for a 70s Philly style of goon squad, but a good enforcer that mean business is a good thing, it keeps your opponentsin check and some of the liberties being taken with goalies, or even by goalies needs to have a cork shoved in it real quick. A goon is a easy solution.

  5. No, I disagree. Do we really want to go back to the days where you would have a player on the end of each team's bench playing 16 seconds a game? All that they would do is go out and drop the mits. It was utter stupidity. Sticking up for your teammates is totally different however. If you have a guy who is 5'6 and is a water bug on the ice but couldn't break a pane of glass with a body check, he needs some protection.

  6. Hockey fighting is awesome, DO NOT TAKE IT AWAY, I will not watch if you soften up this sport too

  7. I'm not a fan of Tom Wilson by any means, but the smile and look on his face after Tkachuck hit him was awesome.

  8. These are what fights should be, happen in the moment. (Which I think includes some retaliation when a player cheap shots someone w a dirty hit) Not two big idiots who cant skate fighting just because.
Its a fine line though I guess

  9. Also the refs need to not control the games so much game misconducts are just easy excuses for players to run away from there actions instead of the players policing themselves

  10. disagree. they should get rid of the fights completely. High penalties and a few match suspension, or something.
If you want to see a fight, go to a boxing or MMA match, or something like that. Fighting in other sports (i.e. in sports where the fighting is not the primary objective of the sport) goes against the nature of sportsmanship itself.

  11. You’re right, but who are you kidding? The NHL is on the bullet train to woke-ness. Why don’t you do a video review on Scotia banks commercial they constantly run during Canadian NHL games. The NHL says hockey is racist, sexist, misogynistic, toxic masculinity, broken, and changing. The change is being made at the minor levels are turning hockey into the game of snowflakes. Everything that makes hockey a special game that builds character and toughness is on its deathbed.

  12. Fighting in Hockey is Bull $#&*! And SHOULD NOT Be part of the game! Why is it the only sport where it’s allowed… Do we really need more violence in the world, especially with a Professional sport.

  13. Can’t show a hockey fight on your channel? It’s nationally televised. It’s the only sport that fighting is not the objective, but it’s allowed (with penalties) and it’s part of the game.

  14. And you know how controversial it really is? Go watch the recap of this games recap on the NHL’s youtube page… no fight included. Hand of god that’s the truth, go see it yourself.

  15. Yep, in the Amricanized NHL the game has become very effeminate. This is why such young men can play now. It's the No-Hit-League, or All-Stick-Checking league

  16. Bare knuckle fights in hockey is so kringe and juvenile. Younglings take after what they see on tv. This is not something promote. I don't get this is still a thing

  17. Neither one of these teams are "my" team. But I watched this game. 3rd period and ot had me literally jumping around my house alone and yelling. It was awesome. I like both teams and love both captains!

  18. The problem with fighting these days is, unlike yesteryear, there are helmets and perhaps more importantly, those helmets have visors. So, the fighter that get the most damage from a fight is often the fighter who throws the most punches. To me, given what I have just said, a fight looks almost silly.

  19. Wild fan here and I don't know if it's cause reaves is here now but things calm down pretty Damn quick. Maybe it's the coach not letting him go wild yet or it's the nhl. But last year was a different story

  20. Visors should not be mandatory and they should be allowed to take their helmets off!!

  21. I've always considered hockey fights a fundamentally weird thing and they often don't entertain me because there isn't a lot of room for skilled martial arts techniques. I also just don't want guys to hurt each other for some vague idea of "standing up for your team".

The old way of looking at fights and physical play should change. Teams aren't going to back down just because you're tough. A good hitter isn't going to avoid the other team's star just because there's a guy on the bench who might hit them back. I think there can be a role for fighting, but it should be for a clear purpose – to swing the momentum of the game. That means there needs to be a clear winner, so I wish fighters would focus more on the knock down than just throwing punches. Body shots and throws or takedowns if they could be safe should be used more. I just think it's kind of pointless to have a guy on your team that you would be okay with getting punched in the face, falling to the ice, or going to the box for 5 minutes.

  22. I’ve been around the game for over 50 years, player, coach, referee and now working with an NHL club and I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a number of ex-tough guys who played mostly in the 80’s and 90’s and they all agreed that what is truly missing from today’s game is…..
    PASSION!
What you highlighted use to be an almost common occurrence, one of the last times I saw 2 captains go at it was when Getzlaf and Thornton dropped them…and that was in the playoffs!
From my knowledge the Boston Bruins Cup winning team of ‘11 was the last team that had a toughness and togetherness that I just don’t see anymore and neither do the men I spoke with…

  23. Punching each other in the helmet is stupid. They should be required to take off their helmets along with their gloves. Hockey fights are lame as it is – the "rules" all but eliminate skill and give all the advantages to the bigger, stronger man – so we might as well see some blood.

  24. I do not want to suggest by any means, that this fight was instructed but something like this, or other type of exciting thing need to be more present in weekly games of NHL. NHL itself is aware of it, as it loses viewership and slow but steady losing when compared to NFL, NBA. (I am an European, with passion for waching hockey as well, but you cannot miss that watching experience of a regular game in regular season cannot be equal to regular game of NBA or NFL.)

  25. The C shouldn't automatically go to the best guy. It's not always him. This type of old school leader is in such short demand.

  26. Hockey is 🗑️ now. You know that the defenseman are taught to go for the puck first now, instead of trying to take the man off the puck, as to create a turnover? Changing the way the game is taught, to make it even more Euro Pond Hockey. So garbage now

  27. Nothing gets the entire arena pumping like a good tilt! Being from Europe and having gotten to watch some of the top euro leagues, they provide excellent hockey, but they lack the animosity and "north american style" of game that make me stay up till 4 am on the weekends to catch some live NHL action. I've been fortunate enough to watch 3 fights live at NHL games and they're all very fond memories of mine and the people i went to the games with. At it was pointed out in the video, the NHL shouldn't shy away from what makes it special.

  28. The NHL Definitely needs more fighting and enforcers. I miss Old Time Hockey or The Bruise Brothers Probert and Kocur. I’m not saying they should fight in every game, but they need enforcers to protect the stars. Plus, when there’s a Hockey fight EVERYONE is on there feet. Thanks

  29. Don't worry NY , just gave Trochek $7+ a yr for 7yrs , yet wouldn't sign Stromme $5
    Motte $1.5
    Or Vatrano or Copp
    GREAT JOB DRURY
