  1. So let me get this straight. We just had to give away a first rounder to get rid of a past his prime, injury prone goalie with a bad contract just to have to acquire essentially a potentially more injury prone, past his prime goalie with 2x the cap hit? WTAF? 😕 😕

  2. I just checked the Las Vegas betting odds and after the Matt Murray trade the Leafs' odds have actually improved, the Leafs now have 7 to 1 odds to win the Stanley Cup, that means if you bet just $20 for the Leafs to win the Stanley Cup you will lose $20.

  3. Sign Reimer. Two reasons.

1- insurance if Murray goes down. Reimer can be a consistent goalie.

2-MAYBE bringing back Reimer FINALLY breaks this first round exit slump. It started with him against Boston. After that blunder by the WHOLE team not just Reimer. Burke gave Reimer the crappy end of the stick and went out and got Bernier. Who didn’t fair any better. Bring Reimer back because we know what we get with him. And maybe break this stupid first round slump. He’s the reason why. Bury the hatchet with him.

  4. He was a great goalie 5 or 6 years ago, but the repetitive concussions seem like a concern for me though. Hopefully he can get back to his old form.

  5. Dubas' better get another goalie as well ….or it's 1 injury away from Kallgren as our Starter……I think we're fucked. This season could go badly, and we only have 2 YEARS LEFT Of Mathews….why would he resign if it's another 2 years exiting the playoffs early. He'll bolt to the best CONTENDER….ffs 😡

  6. Matt Murray, jack campbell, same shit.
If jack would’ve accepted 4.6 for 2 years this trade wouldn’t have happened. No loss as far as I’m concerned. In fact if anything we got 2 picks

  7. With that injury record I can’t help but to wonder wtf Dubas is doing. He’s basically betting Matthews last two years on Kallgren and Woll. We just had and got rid of an overpriced goalie who was always injured. Makes no fukkin sense. His bias for previous relationships just shows bad hockey. The best go for the best, regardless of who you’re friends with.

  8. Murray will be getting paid $7 mil this year and $8 mil next year in real dollars. Makes this deal so much worse because it'll be impossible to trade him if a miracle doesn't happen and he ends up being bad or hurt.

  9. a good back up for Murray would be Samsonov, he is only 25 and went 23 – 12 with Washington last season, im very surprised Wash didnt Qualify him.fingers crossed.

  10. Ville Husso cost a 3round pick which is too much for Dubas but he picks up this garbage hopefully Dubas is gone soon

  11. The picks and lack of salary retention seems so lacklustre considering at this point it seemed to be common knowledge around the NHL circle that Ottawa was willing to move the 7th pick with Murray and drop to 16th in the draft.

Dubas is going to have a hard time making trades this off season because other GM’s are going to take him to the cleaners.

  12. this is about the worst goalie option out there for the leafs.. this is a bonafide embarrassment for a win now team .. this GM is off his rocker, like no joke.. you cant even make this stuff up

  13. Many way's to look at this….Mmm, we will see. Not old, but has not played well in years……really inconsistent, and the injury issues are a concern. This is a risky, risky move….again. I get it, we needed someone with experience ……seems like an over pay…lets see what he can do or is he another Mrazek, a complete bust…time will tell….2 years at this price, mmmmmm …..another project…I do not like it…..do not think this is a smart move….but would love to be proven wrong…let the project begin…..but please play Kallgren, let him develop….he looked really good at times last year….a 1b for sure, who could be the starter before long…lol…especially if Murray flops…..risky, risky…..we will see.

  14. Your point doesn’t fit cause if you don’t do something in the playoffs in the next 2 years ,,,, Matthews and Nylander will be gone,,,, plus if your opinion is Murray is brought in for the playoffs, considering he’s injury prone, he can’t play more than 50 games,,, so you need a really good back up,,,, cause if this is a playoff performer than he has to get there,,, PS he won 2 cups for the Pens and they just let him walk into free agency,,, something about that never made sense to me ,,,

  15. Dubas is NOT just risking his own job. He is jeopardizing the future of the team. You think Matthews will want to stay on a team that perpetually shits the bed? No, he is going to want to go where he can win.

  16. I don't hate this deal….leafs have more options in goal than people realize…and this is only dubies first move.

  17. I'm a leafs fan I get why everyone is hesitant or antsy but we as leafs fans need to be a bit cynical. They know Campbell is testing waters husso is off the board so is Georgiev Kemper is reported to be moving to Washington. Yes Ottawa is firing off their players but they also have their own analytics department, and they knew what market looked like and what toronto is going through. Everytime a goalie was traded ir signed it took an option away from toronto and drove the need for a goalie up. The leafs gave up nothing got a third and seventh and got him at 4.6 ish. Ottawa could have bought him out and leafs could have waited them out but I'm willing to bet a 2 time Stanley cup champ would commanded at least 4 mil per season with any team for 1 or 2 seasons to give him a shot, so if Murray was bought out there no guarantee he would have signed with toronto if he was bought out. And if he went to Washington….. after Murray there is maybe samsonov but that's about it for veteran nhl goalies….. toronto gets a third and a seventh and get Murray for 2 years at about half a mil more than he would have gotten in market. Not to mention if toronto waited for a buy out and signed they wouldn't have gotten a 3rd or 7th and probably would have gotten around 4 or 3.5 mil ish somewhere around mrazeks deal. If toronto gets samaonov it would be best scenarion you have an OK tandem in net and if Murray gets injured he goes on ltir and gets toronto some cap space for moves at deadline. Also let's not compare Murray to mrazek with yes injuries are both a concern but Murray plays good when he's not injured with mrazek there was always question of is it good mrazek or bad mrazek tonight. And Murray has been through and won the cup twice so there's that going for him too. I don't mind this deal at all especially given circumstantial market but deal only works if kallgren or woll take a step or they get someone like samsonov

  18. Murray’s glove sucks. Leafs won’t be able to hide that. And he has no heart. He had a mysterious illness the day Sens were playing his former team Penguins. Leafs should call Allan Bester and see if he can play.

  19. Dubas likely signed a 5 year extension in 2018 when he was hired. If that’s true this could definitely be his last year.

  20. Matt Murray just did not fit in Ottawa, it’s hard for any goalie to play behind that terrible defence but Matt showed flashes of brilliance before getting injured last year. Now he will be playing in front of a much deeper defence and better team so I expect his numbers to rise significantly and actually be a good goaltender for the leafs. Ottawa got rid of that horrible contract and the three goalie rotation that made sure it was impossible for anyone to get in a groove so it’s a win-win. Toronto can also use those pics to require another goaltender or a piece they need come trade deadline. A third rounder has real value.

  21. Kyle Dumbass gave Ottawa the shirt off his back, but they didn't need it they were wearing their Fleece sweater lol

  22. cap space is more important for the leafs who are in win-now mode. would rather have 50% salary retained than the draft picks edit: just heard you say the same thing lol

  23. Bad…bad…bad trade! Sure Murray has 2 Cups but that in the past…his injuries and troubles in goal are in the present…does you honestly believe t
