  1. Man…just imagine if NHL rinks were bigger like in Europe, he would be even faster.

  2. I mean, good for McDavid, but wtf was Lindgren doing? The whole point of the half butterfly is to be compact and take away the five hole with your stick, while still allowing yourself an edge. The widest half butterfly I've ever seen and then he decided to transition to using the blocker on the five hole, while McDavid's stick is still wide open? I get that it's McDavid coming down the ice on a breakaway, but you'd think that would be all the more reason to fully commit to something that might force a nothing shot. You want to stay strong on the stick here and stay on your edges as long as possible before the release, then slam one pad down and shift the stick a bit to cover the new shape. You're standing so you're not giving anything up upstairs, while baiting the low shot that you can take away quickly, but this doesn't do any of that. Legs are wide open even when the pad comes down, and you lose the stick coverage and the upstairs coverage and the 7 hole by dropping a shoulder to try and cover with the blocker. I guess the upper right is still kind of safe just because McDavid is a lefty and dropping the shoulder is technically a projection, but still, wonky decision on this one.

Edit: before someone gets angry, I'm not trying to sell McDavid short here, he's good, I just like practicing breaking down goalie stuff and the comments are a convenient place to do so.

  3. Bo was playing later tonight, & McJesus knew he had to keep it going, or he would be 3rd on the list 🤣🤣

  4. Nobody inte history of hockey would make it as easy as him. Even peak Lemieux had to force his way to scoring because of all water skiing behind him. If you miss your stick on McDavid the train has already leaved station.
