Martin Brodeur would come out of retirement.

I could go back to forgetting about trapezoids

It would be better. A better rule would be that any goalie not in the paint is treated as just another player and can be checked. But then you wouldn’t have goalies making 60 ft passes to jump start breakaways.

Wouldn’t be taking a skill away from goalies anymore

Too many goalies being injured chasing pucks in the corner, lots of empty netters.

Stoppage of nice off the end boards passes.

Believe it or not, there was a period of hockey where we didn’t have one. It would probably go back to that.

Steve Dangel would say « If you’re a goalie tend the goal! » even more often than he does now.

Jordan binnington would have a great time.

Goalies could impact the game more and it would decrease scoring (assuming goalies could play the puck anywhere behind the end line)

We’d definitely see a lot more Brodeur-esque plays. Goalies have gotten much better at playing the puck since the league implemented the rule

As an oldie that remembers a time before the trapezoid, you’d get alot more « You’re a goaltender, tend the goal!! » screams.

I think it would speed the game up

It’s definitely a rule which has outlived its purpose and needs to be scrapped.
