We need size and grit. Not scoring…. We already have a Kane in jack. As good as it sounds it’s not what we need.

  2. While I can see the logic behind wanting to acquire Kane, I don't think NJ really needs him. If they COULD land him on the cheap and parlay that into an extension, then maybe, but it would be foolish to trade away assets for a rental who may leave as a UFA. Yes, that's what a rental is about, but what NJ would be expected to give up may not be worth it.

  3. Fitz: " no interest in rentals"
Media: " Devils could trade futures to rent Kane!"

A very, very silly season episode. That package with Shakir is not far off what SJ is supposedly asking for Meier..why the hell would we trade half the farm for half a year of Kane when we could get Meier for a similar deal? Just for the headlines?

  4. Tbh, with Vanecek and the emergence of Schmid, NJ has one too many goalies (Blackwood). Vanecek is around the same age as Blackwood and he's just flat out outplayed him.

I'm not saying make the trade now, but depending on what the season looks like near the trade deadline, I say do it.

But overall, I think the Devils should try to improve with a Blackwood trade at some point.

  5. The Devils don’t need to move a first rounder, yet!! This is a very steep draft and I rather get Kane on a cheaper deal. You have to pay Bratt

  6. I think we should pass on Kane. Honestly we should go for Timo Meier. We need more scoring and he has chemistry with Nico already.

  7. I've been watching some Michigan games. Luke doesn't remind me of Quinn at all. Don't think he is as skilled. Seamus Casey has been impressive.

  8. There's no need to trade for Kane or anyone else right now. This team is in a good position with roster age, roster depth, contracts, prospects, and draft picks. Trading any of these assets for this season is not a good idea at this point. The UFAs are the team's trade deadline acquisition. Maybe make the trade towards the trade deadline if there's a long-term injury or two. The organization is in great shape to contend for a Cup in the next 5-years. They're going to be the next Lightning.

  9. The answer is a HARD no. We are not in a win now mode! We are building something with a bunch of guys in a pretty similar age group to compete for years. No need to ruin our prospect pool to get like 20 games from Kane. I would much rather get Timo Meier
