“You all saw that” = “the refs in this league are the worst in any professional sport on the planet”. It’s an absolute joke how they can screw a team out of a win, skate off the ice, not have to answer for their brutal mistakes, and leave the arena with their tales between their legs. Where’s the accountability! Players fuck up, and they get fined or suspended depending on the severity. Coaches speak out or criticize the officiating and they get fined, or ejected from games. What happens to the officials when the completely screw a team over. Maybe if they make that OBVIOUS penalty call, Toronto goes on the power play, wins the game, and Kallgren is rewarded for his amazing play and maybe they don’t score, it goes to a shootout and they lose the game. Point is; let the fucking players make their own luck and decide the games.

Kallgren’s performance looked promising but he’s in no position to lead our team into the playoffs. You don’t go from back up ahl goalie to starter in the NHL playoffs in a month. Way too much pressure. Could give him the net a few games up until the deadline, but by then I expect us to get a reliable goalie. We aren’t getting passed the first round with our goalie situation I’ll tell you that much.
A crappy way to lose it, a missed call leads a blown defensive assignment by Matthews and his man scores. If he wasn't eyeballing the ref, he could have maybe got back in the play. He needs to realize that the refs don't call anything against stars in the NHL, they are worst officials in pro sports hands down. A bunch of former Leafs took their revenge tonight combining for 5 points, but Ritchie wasn't one of them. I was half expecting him to score the O/T winner. They should give the kid the start on Saturday, he looked sharp and the team seems to play better in front of rookies for some reason.
First off just watched first 2 period highlights, Mrazek can't handle things. Kallgren did better made a couple huge saves. and weird he knows where the posts are. The refs late 3rd and OT just WOW…late 3rd missed probably 4 calls easy, and I guess you're allowed to hold a guys stick in OT.
Fans welcomes Kallegren because he knew where his net was made normal saves and several big 1s..we've had none of the above in 2 months

Mrazek needs to go. Absolute no trust with him in nets, how do you expect him to do in the playoffs when the guy doesn’t even know where his own net is half the time? Play the Marlie boys and give them a shot to prove themselves or something at least. I can’t remember the last game where our own goalies didn’t allow less then 2 goals or have a shut out. Specifically Mrazek.

They will want a lot for him .

Perhaps get Grubaur as a Rental .
Would be nice to get Grubaur permantly .he's one of the best in the league .i think the Leafs could win the Cup with this guy .

I think that comment about not trading for a goalie is out of date. Tough position… do you not reward the team and just go in with what you have knowing you will certainly lose, or do you mortgage the future for a goalie and a defensemen and keep Muzzin in hiding only to maybe lose anyway?
You can always get joel quenneville to coach this team. The PR will be a shit show, but you won't have to worry about the team's work ethic and inability to play 60 minutes anymore.

I don’t think it’s completely fair to point a knife at the goaltending, yes petr needs to have those but he’s also in a tough position. But he needs to tighten up his movement and keep steady in the crease
He struggled to keep it professional about the goaltending. Except for Kallgren he was glowing about him.

I do not say this often but the Leafs got ripped by the horrible refs this game. That was clearly a penalty in OT just seconds before the winning goal. Had I been Matthews I would have been wild.
The Leafs are not a playoff team. They prove if and when they make the first round. Unfortunately trades to make them on paper a better team will probably produce the same result.

Kyle and Brendan should both be on the chopping block at years end if they dont get the Leafs past the first round. They have both had SEVERAL years to make something happen.

Yes the refs fucked up the call in ot. But the leafs should not be down 3 goals to a non playoff team in the first place.
The NHL needs to take a long, hard look at themselves. It seems as though referee's act with impunity and no accounatability; it isn't true as the referees are graded, and their pay is adjusted. The problem lies in that information is never shared. Games are lost and won on bad calls at times, and it is a crushing thing on a player and coach, more expecially when their responses are fined, punished, and publically so.
If the NHL could at least publically admit that errors occured, then the palyers, coaches and fans could at least reconcile this. Without any acknowledgment by the referee's and NHL, these blown calls never seem to be recognized by the NHL.
Just imagine if that blown call was OT in Game 7?
