With more prospects on the right side I'd rather loose one of the three prospects than either Bouch or Broberg. Great vid as always. Take care all.
During the offseason, he did ask the young players to step up. Didn’t sound like he planned to use them as bargaining chips.
I dunno. I'm not too happy with the idea of either one going. This team has a pretty sorry history when it comes to drafting and developing star players then hanging onto them.
I suppose it depends on who the incoming player(s) would be but trading away top prospects just as they're starting to round into form is not what good, well managed teams do. It's what panicky, short sighted teams do.
I agree that Bouchard will have an edge over Broberg. Despite this year' s struggles, Bouchard is a homegrown RD and has shown his offensive abilities in the NHL. Meanwhile Broberg has had an "interesting" developmental path and a very uncertain and unconvincing NHL stint with 4 pts in 31 games. He is still young and his potential has yet to be unlocked, but can we afford to wait that long?
My thoughts are that we trade Barrie & potentially Broberg for a competent top pairing RD and a veteran defenseman who can help mentor Bouchard just like Keith did but at a cheaper price tag.

Trading Bouchard is counter-productive. You would lose his goals and assists (and his shot) – which Barry will not make up for. It's not like the Oilers are trading for an offensive defenseman, so Bouchard should be kept – unless there is an exceptionally good trade opportunity. … I would rather see Broberg traded than Broberg. Trading either one will be mortgaging part of the future, but Bouchard's offense, provided he learns to play enough defense this season, would be valuable in the playoffs.
How about this for a trade. A 3 way deal. Ryan Murray Jesse Pulijarvi and Oilers 7th round pick in this year's draft going to Columbus. And we get Carson Soucy from Seattle
RD is the weakest in our defense system, Oilers can't lose Bouchard as he has the potential to play top pairing D in the future. Broberg most likely to be gone for a top RD because Oilers can easily find some cheap option to play the bottom LD during the off season.
You do NOT trade Bouch when he's doing a solid for the Oilers right now… he's playing poorly so his next contract on the Oilers will be CHEAP.
Because of the goaltending issue and the lack of a number 1 D man on your blue line your in the patch quilt mode. Now you need a weapon and a sound defensive blue liner witch you have neither in these two, Bouchard has had more opportunity to prove himself but we know Defensive play is not his strong side! If your all in as you say then it really doesn’t matter who goes otherwise your not going ALL IN! It’s not like there’s a Norris trophy in the system but still there’s probably 3 guys in the system who will be a 3rd D? Now if our goaltending gets better you can get by but not now!

I would rather trade draft picks (even first-rounders) than give up Bourchard or Broberg.
TBH, Paul Coffee was horribly weak as a D-man at the same point in his career (no, I'm not saying Bouchard is Coffee – it's just offensive D-men take time).
No way, I’d trade a forward, scoring isn’t a problem for us …the problem is keeping the puck out of our net. I wouldn’t give away our future top pair for a rental/gamble and someone who might not want to be in Edmonton

I’d rather not see a Bouchard or Broberg trade. Probably best thing is to send Broberg back down to bake and trade Jesse and a 3rd or 4th pick for a solid defender. We not in panic mode yet…. wait and see if things improve in a month. Barrie seemed to have improved somewhat.
I would keep Bouchard and Trade Barrie and or Nurse. Broberg would be my choice to go but would rather keep him as well. Keep the vids rolling.
You can't build championship teams on big contracts. Both players are cheap and needed for cap reasons
