The problem is, Dahli, every team knows Bo Horvat is a pending UFA on July 1, 2023. Who is going to be willing to send the Canucks a center, a RHD, and a pick for Horvat now, unless that team feels it is one piece away from the Stanley Cup? But if a team is one piece short, those assets are likely important parts of that team so they are not going to part with them for Horvat anyway.
The mistake was made in the off season in choosing to sign Miller. His competitive window does not jive with the core of the team, and he will be on the wrong side of 30 soon after the deal kicks in. I thought Rutherford would not make the Benning mistake, but instead, he and Allvin are probably going to make the Canucks in a worse bind than Benning did.
Let both of them go. Let the entire team go. They are great players, but they can’t play together. They don’t gel. The Canucks should go to the minor leagues and build a fresh team. A rebuild in the most extreme sense.

The Cap Math is way off he is currently making 5.5 to go to 8 is 2.5 more. To buy out Pearson in the off season saves $1,833,333 if you can't trade him. They have other options.
