Too much $ $ for Karlsson.. Think better to gets Adam. Larrson back from Seattle., and They should gets Reaves and Bo. Horvat . That's what Oilers need strong right wing , center and right defense.
As well as being a hockey fan, I've also been a lifelong "Car guy." Motorsports, muscle cars, antiques, bikes, trucks, all that jazz. Anyway, when I was younger, I had this friend… I'll call him Larry…. who was constantly regaling us with tales about how he was going to acquire all these classic super cars and what his plans were for them and on and on.
Only problem was… Larry was chronically broke. He worked sporadic, minimum wage jobs, when he worked at all, he was in his late 20s and still living at home, constantly bumming stuff off people and couldn't even keep a dilapidated Kia on the road. In other words, his grasp of reality was basically non-existent.
The Oilers often remind me of Larry because they always seem to be coveting some other team's superstar or whichever shiny bauble is rumored to be making his way to market, all while we haven't got the cap space for a Happy Meal!
Also like Larry, the Oilers don't seem to have much of a grasp on just what kind of player(s) or what attributes the team actually needs. Larry was always dreaming of expensive cars when he should have been focused on putting food on his table and the Oilers are after an $11.5M offensive defenseman when what we really need is grit, toughness and defensive abilities. We could address all those needs with three players for what we'd have to shell out for Karlsson.
I don't think the Oilers need a new defense player ? They need a new defense system ! Because every year the defense coach system is not a good system. The Oilers coaching systems need to Push the defense harder ! New defense system needed !
