  1. I doubt it because he has no NHL experience. I'd rather get a solid guy who has experience in the grind of the NHL and the playoffs and if Knies works out he can give us depth scoring.

  2. I think we should move on from
Robertson to get a depth centre or winger for playoffs…

I like knies… but I feel like Toronto is rushing him if he comes here now. Let him progress and then come
Up here next year. Wouldn’t bring him up unless we had a major injury to top 9.

  3. I would hang on to Matthew Knises , However still need to make Moves . Toronto is picking up lots of Steam. We need to keep getting Stronger, and Work Hard together.

  4. We won’t know if Knies is a top 6 forward until he’s in the top 6. To be honest, I wouldn’t sweat prospects. When it’s their time, they will come.

  5. Kapanen for Kerfoot? Now hear me out, similar salaries, but Kappie has another year. That's a bonus simply since it's an asset as opposed to just losing a UFA, plus it would be hilarious Kapanen playing twice for the Penquins and twice for the Leafs haha… But seriously, I would love to have him back with the crew on our 3rd line with Kampf.

  6. lawson crouse. 25 years old… 6'2 220LBS goal scorer, plays both wings and is locked up until 2026-2027… fits the age group of this team.. i dont know what the price for him would be or even if dubas would trade for a guy with this much term left… he fits the win now mode and i wouldnt mind shipping niemela or robertson plus picks and a roster player like engvall or kerfoot to get this guy… knies could/would be a good possibly replacement for bunting once hes gone next season possibly…. but crouse is the answer for me.. guy is a beast and the leafs need a guy like that… its a shame we didnt trade for him b4 he signed this recent contract but it is what it is

  7. Knies may still need some seasoning and since theres no ex Soo LWers available, how about a Schenn & Kuzmenko for some picks and a few bodies instead?

  8. Knies could be like a Michel Bunting or Ryan Dzingel type for Ottawa. Smart shifty top 9 winger who can play on the second line if needed.

  9. Knies isn't even the top player on his college team. If we could trade him for someone who can play the game today, I'd say it's worth a shot.

  10. Love the way Matthew's stats look between goals, assists and his penalty minutes I hope are due to his grit.

  11. Before we get to knies we need to give Joey Anderson a shot on that second line. I’m not sure if he can switch sides. We need to have a good look at Steve’s as well.

Holmberg graduated nice on 4 th line
    Robertson graduated injured
Joey Anderson ? We need to find out
Semyon Der-Arguchintsev does he fit into leaves plans

Knies gets sorted out after you determine the fate of top 4 here

  12. Knies doesn’t skate well it’s going to be a problem leaf’s have top speed on the top two lines

  13. Hey Andrew…adding a decent player will not be easy as everyone wants a first rounder and top prospect from us and the guy we get is gone the following year…that stinks…Kerfoot and even Engvall play no toughness and take over 5 million in cap space…come playoff time…we need something more I don't know what kyle can do…its a tough one…please no old guys with there best days behind them.

  14. I say trade knives as I don't think he wants to be a leaf to begin with along with Holl and kerfoot for a solid dman .. I no I will get flack for this but just my opinion

  15. That OT winner he scored was unbelievable also. Kid could be really great

  16. Knives playes NCAA hockey to think he's a top 6 in the NHL makes me laugh .. ppl are to high on this kid and are setting him up for failure.. put him in the AHL for a couple season's to see how he can handle it before calling him a superstar. Matthew's was already playing with grown men with some having NHL experience..

  17. Leafs won't make a big move until Muzzin discloses he is done for the year. Hopefully we use that cap to trade for a top D. Jarnkrok is a good top 6 and Steeves needs a look as well. If Knies is NHL ready than that is cool but I wouldn't rely on him being able to find chemistry with this team just before playoffs.

  18. Nope. If you're betting the success of your team on a player who hasn't played in the NHL yet… seems desperate.

  19. Been watching the leafs and fans do this kind of thing for decades now, brining up the saviour. This is the wrong way to do it imho. The only reason we are thinking about it is because we are up against the cap. (back in the day Ballard was just too cheap) The guy needs to come up and play 3rd line for a year and learn the ropes. it's a big jump up. MAYBE he can make it within weeks, but usually the guy is mediocre then gets traded and given time to flourish elsewhere and we lament the loss.

MTL has it right. No pressure on their young guys. The organisation understands that the players need time to develop. MTL will be better than us within a few years.

  20. All I care about is making sure we have some money to lock up David Kampf!!! Am I right guys!?… If HE walks, Jesus 🙄….Very exited to see what Knies can do for us if Sheldon starts him off slowly and sheltered a bit. We could also go the purely rental route as well…Horvat or Toews at the deadline.. .maybe O'Reilly.?. If we really are ALL IN, we will have to give away our first round pick and a top prospect. If Knies is going to be playing for us all of next season, then who cares right?. Thoughts??

  21. I feel like getting someone on the left wing right now rather than at the deadline would boost the team even more.

  22. The last thing this team needs to acquire is some weathered old veteran in the twilight of his career. This team is already old enough so I really think we need to add someone who either at or under the age of thirty one. If the price is too steep or nobody is really available, then we might have to be run with Knies. It's not the best option, but it's not the worst, either. We got raked over the coals when they gave up a first for a broken down jalopy in Foligno. I'd like to think that Dubas learned from that and won't make that mistake again.

  23. If Leafs do not want to sign GM for another contract – unless Leafs win at least one playoff round this spring – the GM should no longer be given the authority to make any more significant trades. Why should the Leaf Executives?

  24. It is a lot to ask of a guy in his first year. There are a lot of forwards available this year. Meier, Horvat, Kane (possibly), DeBrincat (maybe). Getting an NHL guy is probably the best move.

  25. I do not think that dropping a kid into the intensity of a playoffs is the best idea, sure he is big, and he plays a robust game, but the playoffs are much different to the regular season. Not that i dont like him or anything like that, but it would be nice if he had some NHL experience before being put in a playoff game.
