Good to get a point even with some sloppy play but I think the team is hitting a lull and we might be coming up on a rough patch. It was bound to happen. The injury bug is hitting us and now we can barely roll out 3 lines, let alone all 4. Goaltending hasn’t been there either with Vitek looking suspect aside from the shutout against Chicago. Maybe go back to flip-flopping VV and Schmid. Either way we have a lot of games coming up in a short period of time and they’re all against very good teams. It’ll be a good test for the team to see if they can squeak out some wins or at least some points.
I swear if that Mercer shot that hit the bar went in or if that Hughes penalty shot went in we would’ve won like 5-2 and wouldn’t have collapsed. This team was magical early in the season when it came to playing the same whether they were winning or losing, but they’ve not been able to replicate that lately.

A game we both deserved to win and lose at the same time. We dominated most of the game, but a few major mistakes cost us the game.
I’m not worried though. We were bound to hit a rough patch at some point, and I’d rather it come now in December than in March. We’re still a playoff team, and we’re still good. But we are inexperienced and our lack of physical play is hurting (but I also don’t want to overstate that line of reasoning).
I think every loss we experience this year is a necessary learning experience for our younger guys. Teams are adapting to us and it won’t be enough to play 55 minutes of great hockey each night and expect to win every time. This game in particular proves it.
But sadly Holtz is a HUGE liability; he drags down anyone he’s on a line with, and I’m worried about Shango’s regression.
