    I'm not into moral victories, but they did get a road point against questionably the best team in the league. They had a ton of great chances. Would have been nice to have Pelech and Palmeri

    Yes isles got a gutsy point from b's. Yet mistakes in d zone – pelech plus a dreadful pp did them in. Yes varly saved one point for isles. pp and gf are identical-14th overall. That is why the need for a big scorer who can also boost the pp is needed. Until then isles just don't have the offensive drivers to make a difference on most nights needing a lot of will to win. And dobson with more freedom is turning into a d nightmare at times. And that is correct. Regular season stats in a high scoring era didn't matter with Billy Smith. His clutch play in the playoffs is what mattered. Roy was the same way. Didn't have great stats in reg. season. Sometimes he was shaky early rounds. But when things got clutch roy delivered. The two best clutch goalies in nhl history. And despite what some say no fuhr wasn't. He cost oil many games and la series in '82 and flame series in '86. He was bailed out a lot of times because oil could just outscore teams. And '80 isles beat no. 4, no. 2, and no. 1 reg. season teams to win that first cup. No easy feat. Good show Gil.
