  1. I noticed that William Dufour has picked up his goal-scoring lately. He's an intriguing prospect. You don't usually expect much from a fifth-round draft pick, but he scored over 50 goals and had over 50 assists last year in the juniors. It was out of nowhere. So I was curious how he would do this year in the AHL. I'd like to keep him. If he keeps stepping up, maybe we can promote him.

  2. Dufour is doing better this year than Raty. Also, he's been the hotter player. I mean, maybe that will get you more in return.

  3. If it was between raty and dufour i would trade raty. Centers seem to have more value. And dufour is more shooter/goal scorer. Something isles lack. A guy that can get it and fire it home. Something wahlstrom should be able to do but he can't consistently do. If/when dufour will be ready is anybody's guess with his skating the biggest ? Yes if you were getting a true proven goal scorer in return then yes you could move dufour. Raty seems kind of slow and awkward. And you could move down the line and look at other Isle prospects like odelius, george, and lennox. Odelius and george are raw but great skaters who need to work on their d game. Lennox is having a pretty good last ohl season with a much better team in front of him this season. He just needs consistency. And a spot for raty means a center moves. Isles have a lot of term/$$$'s invested in their centers so one would have to go at some point. And a trade partner may prefer a more nhl ready prospect in a deal so that favors raty.
Yet the real problem with isles and prospects/trades is raty/dufour/odelius are isles top three prospects according to thn. They are second, fifth, second round picks and not exactly blue chip prospects when comparing them to other teams top prospects like nj/sens who are loaded with blue chip prospects. And that is what is going to make that potential deal for a scorer harder when isles can't offer the best package compared to other teams. I'm sure lou wont hesitate to move a first rounder once again pending isles are in playoff spot at tdl. The question is what else can isles package with first for say p. kane or another top scorer? And blues have been up and down so i don't see them moving out vt if they are in playoffs plus o'reilly is ufa as well. So who else is out there? Canucks will have to make a move and horvath the ufa will have a big price tag. Boeser, garland? If wings fall out larkin is ufa and bertuzzi need new deals. Perhaps meier from sj? Yet trading for guys that need new deals (hello lou) is risky and do you add a sweetener to take say bailey or conditional pick based on signing with isles like jgp deal. That's how lou likes to do things. Or just trade some combination of say beau, first, and raty or dufour or flip it around and move varly to a goalie starved team, beau, and first or one prospect depending on team/need. Tough question no doubt. I'd hate to be the gm deciding what to do on that one.
One last thing on dufour. q league coach with sea dogs wanted dufour badly. He could see the goal scoring ability he had on a lesser team. St. john acquired him and with a loaded squad dufour took off, st. john won q league and mem. cup as dufour was season and mem. cup mvp. Sometimes better players are brought down stats wise playing with lesser ahl talent. And ahl b'port isn't exactly loaded with future nhl stars. Good show once again Gil and great questions to ponder. Sorry this was so long. BTW i think the fisherman jerseys suck. Just too reminiscant of buffoon loser gm milbury era. Only ziggy palffy and his 45, 48 goal seasons shined in that crappy jersey. It needs to be burned in effigy. A real throwback should have represented the dynasty, not fishsticks. That reverse jersey mumbo jumbo is just a $$$-grab for bettman/nhl.
