  1. Yzermans exact words were “we believe he has underrated skills” this means he could be a sleeper. Just look as his stat line compared to what Raymond did. Not quite there with Raymond but still very impressive playing against men as an 18 year old.

  2. Love the reaction! Yzerman said is skilled is underrated, we'll see. Trust the Yzerplan

  3. Trust the Yzerplan. Kasper could turn into the Wings version of Andre Palat, but with some more upside.

  4. so to me, he will definitely play in the shl next season, he might talk to yzerman and londe on what he wants to do but i dont see him at the belfore training camp this season, let him build up a year and the next off season let the boi take a shot on a roster spot in the training camp

  5. Funny thing is just a year ago we were talking about how this was a deep draft full of top notch C prospects and it really wasn't. Kasper was really our best choice at 8. Any other year he would have went somewhere in the 20's. At the end of the day this was probably one of the weakest drafts I've ever seen IMO. My only disappointment is we are only a 1C prospect away from a potential dynasty in the making and this is the draft I thought we would get that but since we were burned in the useless NHL lottery again it didnt work out. We'll work with what we got and what we got is the best farm system in the NHL so🤷‍♂️ I'll take it!

  6. The thing I like from what I see in his highlights, I don't think I saw any perimeter plays everything to came from him being in front of the net or in the slot

Granted there doesn't seem to be a lot of highlights… at least yet

  7. A Brandon Sutter type (11th overall in 2007). Nothing flashy, straight line north south skater, and yeoman dependable.
As for all you who are comparing Kasper to Zetterberg ……really?

  8. I’m a bit worried with how much of a focus on two way offensive players this build is having, at this point. Hopefully we can add some pure superstar goal scorers at some point to round it out, as I’ve no doubt the team were assembling can compete… my worry is that we may not have enough scoring to take advantage of that defensive game, especially considering how much more the league has shifted to speedy, offense first, 5,6,7 goals a night type of games. While having a team that can defend against those teams is great, if you can’t pace them in scoring it’s kind of all for naught. I trust Stevie, though. I’m sure he’s got something in the works.

Just this odd inkling at this point, although I do love Marco Kasper’s game and think he’s a good fit as a 2nd or 3rd line penalty killer who can win draws and battle. Maybe he’s hiding something in his game that just started to come out late in his season, he played very well toward the end of the season and into the playoffs. He struggled a bit early this year when they kinda switched his role, but once he got comfortable he really started to show what he’s capable of, and shot up a few draft boards. Looking forward to watching him develop.

  9. Hey Lego, been watching your stuff for a while and glad to see someone with such a level head analyze NHL level talent/trades/etc. My buddy predicted Kasper six months ago as the Wings pick and I'm happy to have a talented center as our pick this year. Keep up the good work and go wings!

  10. Delusional how people tell you what a prospect wont be. Ridiculous. I'm sure Steve Yzerman drafted Kasper thinking, he wont be this, he wont be that but at least he'll be average.

  11. Detroit's projected future line-up several years down the road:

    Vrana Larkin Raymond
    Hanas Carlsson Andreasson
    Soderblom Kasper Berggren
    Mazur Veleno Neiderbach
    Rasmussen, L-D Nilsson

    Edvidsson Seider
    Johansson Wallinder
    Buium Hronek
    Lindstrom

    Cossa
    Nedeljkovic
    ——————————
    Soderblom (Arvid)

Bertuzzi, Zadina and Fabbri are left out, to show more depth and possible trade targets.
Leo Carlsson is a 2023 Swede Center.

  12. I love Kasper he was my pick for the wings he’s easily the smartest player of the draft and he’s gonna be a NHL ready kid right away even tho he won’t be in the NHL till a year or two away he’s insanely good. Great pick up. He’s not a shooter he’s incredibly smart opens up ice for other ppl to shoot.

  13. This a great pick. I saw him playing against Finland in the world championships. Kid was flying through the defensive and neutral zone with the puck and essentially creating Austria's offense by himself in a game they had no shot in. Explosive skater and high skill.

  14. Excited to see how he progresses the next couple years, maybe I'll get to watch him in Grand Rapids in a few yrs.

So fascinating that Yzerman comes in 2 weeks after becoming GM and reached for Mo Seider in the 2019 draft where everyone freaked out and questioned Yzerman. Now he's a draft wiz and no one dares to question Yzerman, the Mo pick has really taught the wings fan base to be patient.

  15. Lucas Raymond is gonna be the wings 90 plus points player soon.

  16. If you look at his highlight reels, he's got decent speed, hands and moves, and can absorb a check. He's not afraid to bob and weave thru traffic, be creative and isn't bad in the corners for an 18 year old. If he works on his acceleration and release, he's going to be 2nd line center in 2-3 years.

  17. A really solid junior player against adults in a competitive league. He has already proven himself. Superb pick by Stevie. I really wanted the Red Wings to pick him so I'm happy.

  18. Kasper is Yzerman after Scotty Bowman became the coach that made Stevie the complete player he turned into, that Johnathan Toews modelled his game after. Kasper will play a 200 foot game and will score key goals, not to mention we really haven't seen what he can do with solid line mates like a Raymond or a Bertuzzi, players like that can elevate, look at Dan Cleary and Justin Abdelkader playing with Datsyuk 🤔
