The rumor mill would seem to corroborate this link.

not sure why we would give up assets for Puljujarvi but pass on Tolvanen for free…

Might be straight up for max jones?

I think Puljujärvi would be an incredible replacement for Silfverberg, he’s a smart defensively-minded depth winger that I feel has the ability to help shut down top lines.
But I definitely don’t think a rebuilding team should be giving up valuable assets for him.

Food for thought – Puljujarvi has been mentioned as potentially leaving Edmonton if the Oilers look to acquire Karlsson, and they realistically need a third team to retain salary (on top of San Jose retaining salary) to make things work.
A lot of people are probably against the idea of helping a division rival get out from under a huge contract, but the Sharks are in a bad spot regardless and are unlikely to be competitive for a few years. If the Ducks can get assets for retaining $2.875mm for a few years, I think there are scenarios where it makes sense to do it. Not saying Puljujarvi alone would be worth that, but there could be a bigger picture play here than simply the Ducks giving up an asset to get him.
