The rule specifically states the puck must be controlled by the player before crossing the line, which he did. It doesn't matter whether it's kicked, hit with his stick etc. There is nothing in the rule I saw that states he has to maintain that control after crossing the line. The opposing player never made contact with McDavids stick until AFTER he crossed the line. He brought it in under control, period.

Control was established before crossing the line. Also, IF control matters after crossing the line, then how is O'Reilly not interfering with McDavid in order to stop McDavid from regaining control he apparently didn't have? Either way, grey area call for sure, but I think the oilers got screwed.
