  1. Nurse in my mind was directly involved in the first and third goal both giveaways around his net. At 9.25 million per year it is a bit of an over pay!

  2. It’s confusing. Which makes it frustrating.

    Rule 83 – Off-side – Page 126

A player controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the leading edge of the blue line.

Definitions- Controlling the puck – Page 212

The act of propelling the puck with the stick, hand or feet. Control of the puck is not lost when contact with the puck is made by an opponent, the boards or the net, provided the player in control of the puck continues propelling the puck.

Definitions- Possession of the puck – Page 213

The last player to physically touch the puck with his stick or body shall be considered in possession of the puck. (NOTE 1) A player can have possession of the puck without control, but he cannot have control of the puck without possession.

So entering the zone before the puck isn’t off-side in of itself. They can be ahead of the puck as long as they are in control and in possession of the puck.

What’s confusing is the definitions. Not Possession as Connor last touched the puck, but control is confusing. They are in control provided they continue propelling the puck.

In order to continue to propel the puck as one crosses the line I would think one must be touching it. But why then must one also be in possession? Which means one last touched the puck. By the written definitions, taking them literally, in order to be in control in this circumstance one must be touching the puck. Negating the need of also being in possession.

So my take away is if your ahead of the puck crossing the line your stick must be touching the puck I guess.

If that’s the case, for simplicity the rule should be “your stick must be touching the puck when entering the offensive zone ahead of the puck.”

  3. Nurse is worth 4.5 mlillion, maybe 5 million tops…we could sure use that extra 4.25 million.

I wish he wasn't on this team to be honest

  4. Was a very frustrating game to watch, still in disbelief in how it ended, but have to move on and just be ready to play a better full 60 min game on Saturday, cannot afford another game like that, have to play well against the ducks cannot take that team for granted.

  5. Defensive zone is a pathetic circus – soft and slow. … That’s 2 recent games where Nurse has given the puck away behind the net – resulting in crucial goals. And then on the tying goal tonight, he doesn’t get the puck out and loses control of it. … And, please!, his playing time & who he was playing against had nothing to do with these blunders. Other professionals don’t get to use those pathetic (media-generated) excuses – they either perform or get fired – which Nurse is immune to.

  6. 9 mil and can’t focus for 60 minutes. Two goals on him. McD needed an AV sweater on to get the off side call. Keep the faith and the vids rolling

  7. Nurse cough up the play but Mann if he covered tarasenko after instead of laying like a pizza they would’ve won…. He’s not even a Top 10 d man and gets paid like one. Good one Holland🤦

  8. The hockey gods had other ideas tonight. The refs calling phantom penalties. Tired of complaining about Nurse. One not for the books.

  9. Nurse, its always F(*^&*(^%&^$&^$%, Nurse's fault some how.
We need to dump him for 4 other defense guys for 9 MILLION .

  10. I think nurse needs a couple of games off just to get his head out of his ass. Edmonton needs to make this deal happen and Pronto. This is a 3 way deal. Pulijarvi Benson and Murray to the ducks and Edmonton gets Edmunson back from Montreal.

  11. Not the first totally f-up by Nurse this week. He made a weak pass to Ceci just the other day that was picked off, but yet the media talks about Bouchard (a rookie) and also the coach benches Bouchard and what's going to happen with Nurse? The coaching staff doesn't hold all players accountable for the same equally dumbfounding plays and they should.

  12. So anyone that knows me knows I'm not a fan of Nurse. However that's a different issue because it's really more about his contact than the player in that situation and technically we should blame Holland for that more than Nurse.

Ok, that being said, the coach put Nurse out there for nearly 30min. This is not the first time that a key player has been way way over utilized. Even the announcers comment indirectly about McDavid's energy level. They are getting put out there way way too often.

Lastly and I've said this before, no one can build chemistry playing 6-8min a night. Why is it only the Oilers have a terrible bottom 6? I'm suggesting we have a few simple problems here that stay with exhaustion and lack of utilization.

Play Drai and McDavid each 18min a night. McDavid should always be flying out there. The Hollywood line (Holly, Ham and PJ) skills be easily getting 10-12min a game. They have earned it and if they had that time they'd produce, you can easily see it's nearly there.

Anyway I don't know what happened to Manson and Woody in the of season but they are doing the exact same thing as Tibbit was doing each of the last 3 years.

  13. Anyone notice a trend? Oilers can usually beat teams below them because the first two lines dominate and against the real bad teams they get minor contribution from the bottom 6. Against teams above them they lose, because of poor defensive team play including that of the top lines and their weak defense is exposed. Along with zero contribution from the bottom 6. This team needs some major reworking.

  14. All fans are asking for is consistency with the rules and the nhl can't even give us that. Clown league. Absolutely ridiculous.

  15. The Oilers need to make a move on Chychrun. Contract is cheap, signed for 2 more seasons and can play defense on a bad team with a +5. We can't wait on Broberg when Mcdavid and Draisaitl are in the final years of their contract. If the Oilers want Edmundson, they should not give up a 1st since he is playing poorly this season. I would pass on Klingberg because he is not the players needs and he sucks on Defense.

  16. I demand either Nurse's head for being a complete dumb ass or Dave Manson's head for doing shit with this defense! Every time the Oiler's score a goal you can visibly see Edmonton's defense slack off! I'm sick of this crap game after game. Except for the Last home game against the Wild, where Oiler's were constantly buzzing and just dominated that game and then every game since then have been sloppy! We need Tort's!!!! Someone willing to punish them for stupid lazy mistakes!
