So what your saying Adam is salaries should be performance based. So you don’t get stuck with a 12 million dollar dead weight contract (Tavares). Players should all start with the same base salary and get percentages based on actual performance. So if everybody on the oilers gets $750000 minimum the rest would go to Draisaitl and McDavid?

John Cooper became the fastest coach to 450 career wins, he has 0 Jack Adams trophies. I understand he coaches a team with amazing players, but this man is the most criminally underrated coach in hockey and it’s a shame he’s discounted so much because of his talented players. He has won at every level and deserves so much praise and I’m very proud to call him our coach.

By the way, I remember this. Edmundson was traded at the 2020 draft from Carolina to Montreal for a 5th round pick in the 2020 draft, BUT he was an expiring UFA heading into FA which means the Canes got lucky to even get a 5th for him. Montreal basically traded for him, to make sure he was their property and gave him a contract right after that trade which was 3,5×4. I'd agree that a 1st is a lot for him, but that's the price for defensemen like him at the deadline, we've seen it time and time again.

That question about Ovechkin and McDavid. My first thought was "wow that's a great question, surely McDavid will catch him". Look at the numbers Ovechkin over his career is 0.611 goals per game played. McDavid is a "distant" 0.512. So statistically he has no chance of catching Ovechkin. The crazy thing to me is looking up those statistics, Austen Matthew's is 0.628 goals per game over his career. So maybe that's the question that should be asked. Will Matthew's threaten Ovechkin's inevitabel record?

You always ignore the most important part of why the salary cap exists.
IT'S SO NO TEAM CAN SPEND MORE ON THE PLAYER'S ON THEIR ROSTER THAN ANY OTHER TEAM. It's a big reason why sports fans I know gravitate towards hockey over other sports.
