  1. I think I'm wrong a lot but I'm not wrong for liking the blue and gold starting to gel we might just make the playoffs I don't want to jinx us see that's what happened I said we'd lose against Colorado and we won the old backwards jinx really that's why we won haha

  2. Winning tight games where they might have been overcome is much better for development than blowing teams out. There were flaws again but the Av's are champs for a reason and gave a good account even when down by 3. UPL produced a solid performance very akin to his win over the Jets last year. If he can add consistency to that type of showing he'll improve dramatically. Good result and plenty to build on. 😊

  3. Thats the UPL we wanted. He looked so good. He stopped just not hard shots but quite a few deflected pucks. Defense really came together without the POWERhouse. Clague played really well. Was great to see that result. Just shows how much we've improved since our last meeting against the AVS.

  4. Nice win, even if we played poorly in the third when the Avs got desperate. I see us as a solid .500 team. I see us going 5-5 over the next 10 games to end up 19-19-2 after 40. And I'd be happy with that this season. Last night, I think we started out with a tighter defensive effort, but basically this was two teams skating end to end, just like most games we play. Are we a team that wins only when we score more than 4 goals? Then there's no way we're a playoff team.

  5. We were NOT a no-show in the 3rd. That was the kids playing as defensive as they could without being worried about giving the game up. That was the kids growing into such professionals that they made sure to have the right kind and amount of energy at the end. They never looked uncontrolled except when they did bend a little under the withering pressure which still did not break them though. That was a team w/ onky 5 D dressed, 3 of them legit AHLers, young forwards learning to backcheck, all putting together one Hell of a 3rd period. They kept saying "gimme your best shot" and kept taking them over and over. I will vehemently disagree w/ anybody who looks at the stats, let alone watches the period, and tells me the Sabres disappeared; they did not, their game changed. They grew. Exactly what you thought might happen in your pre-game

  6. I thought we actually played an incredible defensive game last night! Besides some hiccups late in the third, we were keeping them on the outside and that’s why UPL was able to make a lot of saves. There is a lot they can take from this game moving forward! If we can put the puck in the net and then shut teams down we will make the playoffs!

  7. Wasn't happy with the offensive effort and/or gameplan in the third but I will take the win.

  8. Tuch is a monster, whenever there is a loose puck he gets it! Fans complain he’s big but isn’t hitting every shift like Cam Neely, who cares??? The guy has more points than wonderboy Jack Eichel and same amount of goals as Golden Boy Matthew’s.

  9. Great game to watch last night. 👍 I think Buffalo started to get tired legs last night in the 3rd.

  10. Wayne the Mane if I was GMKA I would just sign you to a 1 year $750k minimum deal & pay you a $100 incentive per hit & a $250 per Incentive per fight to be the muscle this team needs 😉

  11. I think they sat back and just focused on playing solid defense in the 3rd. They were playing with a shortened bench and I think they were just trying to keep guys as fresh as they could. They kept most shots from the outside and kept high danger chances to a minimum. UPL played great. It's amazing what playing solid defense can do for a goalie. Good game, good win. Now to just keep it going.

  12. This was an unbelievably young team we fielded last night. No Okposo, no Anderson, No Lyubushkin, no Skinner.

  13. The wildcard spot is oh-so-close but can't keep allowing 40-shot games. Badly outplayed in the 3rd. The goalie – whoever is in net – can't be expected to bail out the team game after game after game. Obviously short on the blueline last night, they did a great job keeping most shots to the outside. I wish someone would tell them to HIT THE NET. I would not be surprised if the Sabres led the league in missed and/or blocked shots.

  14. Way better overall. Less rushed, but still with speed. Wonder if they were told to conserve energy being at elevation. Better defensively. Let’s go!

  15. I was not surprised at the turtle protection mode in the third period given Buffalo only had 5 defensemen playing last night with three of them being AHL players.

  16. 1 shot on goal, 1 empty net goal that’s pretty ridiculous. I think mittelstadt hit the post but we scored 4 they scored 2 so can’t complain with a win against the champs

  17. No doubt, the Sabre's quick start stunned the Av's into the 3rd period, before they found their game. This was a good lockdown win for the team. It wasn't that long ago; we would have given up the tying goal there.
