This is a completely different team than the first 15 games of the year.

  2. tfoxsail

I’m at a loss for words. I just can’t get how we can look so good at times and then just implode. Five down in a row isn’t the end of the world, and we still need some key players back, but no way we should have lost all of them. These guys are capable of so much more.

  3. jaredsurreddit

Face offs and speciality teams absolutely fucked us. Brutal stretch.

  4. xenonwarrior666

Surprised this post is so late. Game ended 20 minutes ago

  5. matthewdurand

Where are the Tanguay sympathizers at?

  6. RedWingsFan1990

Sloppy and half assed effort. Literally handed Ottawa the game

  7. aggressivechicken78

I don’t like the defensive system style of playing

  8. Oceana123

If our PP1 line isn’t changed for next game, I’ll have no hair left. Why are no changes being made?! They aren’t magically getting better.

  9. BenAdaephonDelat

They scored more on our powerplay than we did.

  10. Way2Grizzled4U

Didn’t get to watch but man the PK been rough it looks.

  11. Alecboyyes

Well that was a fucking disaster.

A limp day for both of my sports teams.

  12. Faceoffs, zone entries, special teams, have all been huge problems this season

They need to find a consistent good zone entry, especially on power plays

That was embarrassing, and a waste of a Saturday afternoon

  13. Salamangra

Oooh boy. That was a rough one, and me feels like it’s only going to get worse.

The problems that plagued this team since day 1 of the season are still here and they’re growing. We can’t win faceoffs, we can’t generate anything 5v5 (I can count on one hand the amount of odd man rushes I’ve seen this year), our special teams suck. Our weak early schedule gave us a false sense of security and now that we’ve fallen back to Earth our teeth are getting kicked in

Yeah I get some players are injured and that’s sucks, but this game today came down to who wanted it more. Evidently we didn’t want it.

And I’ve seen plenty of Chiarot with Seider. The guy is a fucking plug in the highest degree of the word. Negative hockey IQ, never in the right position. He doesn’t even lay big hits or protect our guys. Can’t believe we gave him that contract.

I am worried that this team isn’t playing hard for Lalonde. Larkin gets checked in the head and no one responds. Another poor effort.

  15. Shotokanguy

I’m still looking forward to when this team is healthy, but personnel won’t change the habits and system this team is trying and failing to play. If they don’t improve significantly on faceoffs, squander 95% of PP opportunities, misread each other constantly in the defensive zone, and struggle to make good offensive plays that lead to shots and scoring chances, it won’t matter how good our top 6 looks.

I’m not making any judgements yet, but Lalonde might need to start working some magic soon.

  16. BroodWarrior

Poor effort. Bad penalties, continuing to lose important draws (and most draws to be honest), horrendous special teams… and we get Ovechkin next game. Yippeeeee!

  17. PrestigiousInsect305

Losing is one thing, I can handle losing games, even lots of game in a rebuild.

But that was horrific, this last stretch has been brutal to watch and makes it tough to be motivated to actually put it on–credit to those that go to JLA and watch whatever this effort is.

  18. Dirty_Laundry_55

The power play is currently a mess. I understand they want to feed Perron and Kubalik but teams have caught on that very quickly. Cross ice passes are not working. If the Red Wings don’t win the face off, they have an incredibly hard time getting the puck back in the zone. Red Wings are also way too pass heavy on the Power Play. SHOOT THE PUCK MORE, PLEASE.

  19. TheNation55

5th straight loss, unfortunately it looks like we’re right on schedule for our regular mid season spiral where the wheels completely come off. Hey we made to 3rd in the division though!

  20. jfstompers

We’re the worst team in our division and the only argument you can make is maybe , maybe we’re better than Montreal.

  21. Accomplished-Soup857

Why do I feel like we give up an insane amount of short handed goals? It’s like they forget you also have to play defense on the PP

  22. Wheresthesass

Yzerman and Draper and everyone says they want players here that have high compete levels.

Those players are not here yet. This team is softer than my stool from this morning.

  23. 5MoreQuidAerieDae42O

Haven’t had the time to watch a Wings game recently and boy oh boy, does it remind me a lot of last year and some years before it. Lots of old problems are still here. Gonna be a long long year for sure.

  24. non_target_eh

Games like this, and the Buffalo, Boston, Florida, New Jersey, etc. Really have me questioning the direction of this rebuild. Seems like the team is not having fun, when down by a couple they just give up super easily. Do they hate the system? Also questioning some of our picks and FA signings, we are slow & unskilled. Without Husso I feel like we would be a bottom feeder in the NHL. Why did we spend so much in FA just to meddle in mediocrity?

  25. AmazingSieve

Not sure what needs to be done to get the boys back on track but clearly this is danger time for the post season run

  26. Warm_Service_8694

I don’t think the sky is falling yet but we gotta get healthy

  27. Positive_Possible397

The Ottawa games were must wins in my book. This is starting to be eerily similar to last years collapse. I’m patient. But this team still needs both time and talent.

  28. fargowebleaf

We have to have one of the weakest forechecks in the league

  29. itally_stally

Glad I fell asleep for everything beyond the 1st period

  30. aggressivechicken78

We look slower, softer, and less skilled than last year, it’s not really an overreaction

Players just standing around and not skating, I just can’t stress how slow we look

The Chiarot/Seider experiment is a massive failure and every time that pairing is still together is appalling

  31. jarvek7

Shit-fuck Batman! Giving up two shorty’s and three PP goals. We sucked the long dong this afternoon.

  32. PineconeNugget

Thankful that I was too busy to watch this one. In other news; evidently, football-bowling-cornhole is a thing.
