  1. I thought it was a great draft for the Red Wings. They weren't afraid to go after the highest ceiling players available to them, and take the guys they liked the most. Yzerman spent assets to make deals that don't seem to present themselves every day, such as acquiring Nedeljkovic for effectively "a bag of pucks". I like seeing gutsy moves like that.

  2. Solid draft by the Wings. Also, you are getting pretty good at this YouTube thing. Hope you reach 100,000 subscribers!

  3. Center McTavish would have answered a looming need. But the draft lottery did not do us any favors (again) and Anaheim got their logical choice in. One thing is for certain finding a top flite/game changing center is imperative for 2022, almost red button critical. Even a 2C type (McTavish) can place hold the pivot position until center can be resolved. Eklund projects as a LW and that would not have solved this stud center issue. Yet if Detroit does better competitively they will not be drafting anywhere within the area to get Wright, Savoie, Cooley, McGroarty, or Jack D. Hughes. Centers after this list are 5'9 150 (literally), except Gaucher who is not top flite. Yzerman may have to bite the bullet and pull off a major trade to get in the top 5 for 2022 to get that 1C. If not he will have to make a major trade for an established veteran and pay a huge cost of assets.

  4. In my humble opinion, I think the Wings drafted particularly well in the 4th and 5th rounds. I see lot of potential with the kid from Frulonda, the center Nelisson ? As far as the earlier picks, I"m fine wth them but also understand that even early first rounders are not a given, I remember guys like Lawton, Wickenheiser, Daigle and Yakupov going 1st overall and some Wings mid 1st rounders like Cholowshi, Svechnikov( who I still have hope for ) and Sheahan, to name a few.. Even Rati who was rated so high just a year ago, he's fallen so fast. The one Big difference I hope is that Mr. Y is now at the table, I realize that Holland wes reasponcible for the drafts mentioned above, I could go on about other issues like not getting ahead of ourselves and we need at least a couple of more high picks in the coming drafts, so improve put not to the point of just missing the play-offs and missing out on future picks coming up the pipe line like Wright , Bedard, and mitchkoov..Have a great day Wingers !!

  5. We shall see how the Wings did in this draft in 2-5 years. Glad that we took Cossa over Wallstedt. Excited to see what we do in free agency. I can see Landeskog coming here.

  6. For some reason alot of ppl are upset about this draft saying how we shouldnt have went for a goalie since we have nedeljkovic who is a Calder finalist but he is still fairly unproven afterall the hurricanes had a better defense than detroit in 2021 and a better team which didnt struggle to score so the goalie draft of Cossa was a necessity since we dont kno if nedeljkovic was a one hit wonder or even still he hits the ground running we still gotta replace greiss eventually. And alot ppl said we shouldve drafted centres instead of edvinsson yh but in all honesty there wasnt an elite center out there since they already were taken (i might regret saying that jus watch how i get forsaken and one of those centres blossom into the next mcdavid) and i think the redwings are building a very defensive team where opposing oppositions are gonna struggle to score on . And that centre arguement shouldnt even matter becuz those ppl keep forgetting they were also 6 more rounds were on paper we got two solid centres who look set to be solid nhl centres with the right development so i honestly think this is a solid draft for us

  7. I imagine that Yzerman drafted Cossa instead of Wallstedt because Yzerman probably saw alot of the same similarities in Cossa when Steve drafted Vasilevskiy for Tampa Bay

  8. It must be remembered that Alex Nedeljkovic played behind an excellent defense .. One season of miracles seen before .. Bernier would have deserved a contract, as he played 3 seasons excellently even though the defense in front of him was weak .. What's even more surprising is William Eklund's failure to pick up .. For he was a better player last season than Lucas Raymond, even though he is younger than him.. Yzerman picked up the defenders in the first and second rounds of 2019: Seiderer by number: 6 and Antti Tuomisto by number: 35… In 2020: number; 4 Lucas Raymond (forward) and number: 32 William Wallinder and now 2021 number: 6 Simon Edvinsson and number: 36 Shai Buium .. So where are the top-round forward picks?? We’ve picked under number 50, with only one forward in the last three NHL draft events and that’s Raymond…

  9. I’m seriously wondering how long Cossa’s ETA is, imo that will be a big factor in how good this class is

  10. Initially I wasn't too high on Edvinsson and I'm still not sure he'll be a top pair d-man, but it seems to me that Yzerman is adding pieces to a team rather than just picking the best individual player so in the end I trust that Edvinsson was the right choice. Cossa was a great pick, and Dower Nilsson has the right attitude to develop into a decent NHLer. Overall pretty excited to see how this will turn out in 5 years or so
