  1. I was at the game for his 8 point night. Love to have him back, he plays a real smart style of hockey, and knows how to dump and chase in this 2022 NHL.

  2. I think we need to trade Warren Foegele to save the amount to bring back Gagner or sign Phill Kessel on a 1M deal. Holland knows he's gonna add and that's gonna happen next month.

  3. Lets play what if:
    What if lines look like:
    Kane McDavid Yamomoto
    Hyman Draisaitl Puljujarvi
    Foegelle Nugent-Hopkins Gagner
    Janmark McLeod Ryan

    Nurse Ceci
    Kulak Bouchard
    Broberg Barrie

    Campbell Skinner

The third line can score but is a defensive line that will move the puck out of your zone into the O zone for changes and the fourth line isn't chopped liver either. Right now I have Puljujarvi on the second line primarily because that's where I think he'll get to. Yamo plays well with either Connor or Leon but seems to play better with Connor. Financially Shore and KK get bumped to make the Cap really with Gagner at league minimum to free up some space. If (big if) Barrie goes we can look at getting Desharnais possibly into the lineup (he's 26 and has a big wingspan on him and many were talking about him) or perhaps a low cost UFA or PTO. I know many can play either side but playing your natural side is always better.

Just math backed suggestions but I have to admit I'd love Sam Gagner back in the mix. Take care all.

  4. Hi Patrick. I would like to see # 89 Sam Gagner back home with the Edmonton oilers I liked watching him I remember the game he got 8 points against the Blackhawks. Andy.

  5. Don’t really want Sam back, as much as I liked him back in the day. I don’t think he will contribute much and he probably wants 2 mil

  6. I like Gagner – class act. It all comes down to who else wants to come to Edmonton for the cap we have left. If he's the best fit, sign him.

  7. GOOD!….The guy was HUGELY popular with the team mates and was contributing when they gtraded him. One of Holland's WORST moves…….And while they are at it, any way to get Kassian back?….He was the ONLY guy that would drop the gloves and was still good enough to kill penalties or throw on the first line when the going got tough……I still don't see a replacement for him.

  8. Great video update, good fit for the 3rd or 4th line, do miss his outstanding shootouts as an oiler

  9. Just wondering is he a UFA or did he get re-signed by Detroit? It says his last contract was 850k 21-22 on puckpedia. I think Gagner can be a great 3rd and 4th line player. Maybe he can hit another 8 point night?

  10. Man, I love Sam Gagne but the fact the oilers are looking to him as a legit bottom 6 forward is insane to me. His foot speed is a serious problem and if the Oilers are a serious contender then they need to incorporate a proper checking line player. It’s just another Turris scenario waiting to happen. Go get Rodrigues or someone who can overachieve their PTO opportunity.

  11. I love Sam and I was disappointed when Holland traded him!…big mistake…one of the few that hollands made!

  12. The lines ups will be pretty gud
eh Patrick..? Now I have a good feeling about this situation and how great experience he has.. I still have his jersey lol.

  13. Love to have him back as he was always a class act with heart. As you stated he checks all the boxes for the right price. Thanks for the vids Patrick.

  14. Knew this video was coming Patrick as soon as I read the article. Sam would be a solid 4th line option that could move up the lineup when needed, if Holland is serious about icing a reduced lineup Sam is the type of player he should be bringing in, players that are versatile that can play multiple roles even if that means sitting in the press box from time to time.

  15. He’d be a good fit but a lil on the light side for a checking role. Good stats all round tho

  16. We've just been trying to fill that rw right handed show that can score ever since we traded Eberle away.. whether it's puljuaarvi or Yamamoto or whoever and Eberle is still way better than both

  17. Adding Samwise back to the Oilers at or near league min would be a great move. As both Puljujarvi and Yamamoto are young and bound to be inconsistent, Gagner can help shore up the right side when they go into slumps.

  18. God I hope not. Gagner is an incompetent hockey, especially in this new Era. He's slow and lacks the IQ which is sad for a guy who had a mentor in Dave Gagner.
