The biggest problem with Edmonton's defense is the team insisting they also have to be breakout players for additional offense. If they would just let the D play defense they would be much better, but they are always trying to cheat their way out of the zone, it always seems like the priority over good defense and it leads to too many mistakes.
As far as Edmonton's goalie issues…..well, we've had the same goalie coach for a LOOOOONG time, and I've seen goalies leave Edmonton and IMMEDIETLY get better. So….🤷♂

the oilers obviously ran out of gas in the 3rd. they spent 15 minutes in their end. seemed like mc david and draisatal were always on the ice. evander kanes importance to the team really showing and i'm surprised this host didn't mention it.
It's something that often gets missed in the Crosby vs mcdavid talk, Crosby makes players like Rust look like superstars when they play with him. You could basically put him on any team and it will do good. No one can say that about mcdavid.
I have no idea why ppl think that we are just “annoyed” we have been crying for YEARS!! We absolutely know that we need more solid defensemen. I do think Nurse is solid and his contract is valid (25 minutes/game) and justified. What I have no idea is why we are paying new forwards the millions. Moronically the organization hasn’t used those millions (Kane) towards defense. That is what is going to to kill us. We don’t need more glitter – we already have the best forwards in the world. DEFENSE. DEFENSE, DEFENSE… years of screaming this.
Two guys are making 25 million. Yes they are worth it, but that leaves less for quality players. McDavid is being played too much. The coach needs to think defense first, offense second. One defensemen will not fix the issue. The whole culture of the team needs to change. And it starts with McDavid. Crosby did it and has three cups to show for it. McDavid can too.
Problem with Nurse is that in the 2021 offseason everyone and their dog was giving 9-9.5m to top pairing D.
Stop giving players more then 5 year contracts for having 1 good season…if they don't like it bye bye. Its the biggest problem league wide and is so obvious and I'm not a gm.
