Johnny going to CBJ was outta left field… Very surprised w him taking a fair bit less $ to go there long term over Cal and teams in the NE closer to his home town, especially NJ with the Forwards (arguably better than CBJ) & D men (somewhat close to CBJ) on top of allegedly offering a lot more salary per year.
In some way I kinda get the intent on bringing in a shut down type of D man to help that fairly young group of blue liners, but at 4m AAV for 4 years is bit of a head scratcher… Could hurt them cap wise after signing Johnny, the likely massive new contact for Laine, paying D man Zack W, etc.
Totally shocked and pissed 😤 that he didn't come to the Tri-State Area NY/NJ and didn't sign with the Devils or Islanders
U do know Columbus has 3m cap and need to sign laine meaning he has a high chance of leaving
