Well I'm happy that we have Campbell locked in. 5×5 sounds good to me 👍I seriously hope we can land Connor Brown. I'm happy with a PJ for Connor Brown trade. I won't complain if Dylan Strome comes to Edmonton. He is a depth scorer but hopefully we also have money to sign a shutdown D-man and Kulak. I don't think Perron is coming back. He wanted out of here last time I checked. Stay away from Anderson. We aren't giving up Bour-goal for an injury prone 30 pt player. I also found out Brendan Lemieux wasn't qualified by LA. Maybe he can be a cheap target? Lemieux vs the 2 Tkachuks 👊

As for Kane….this is the shit that got him so unliked in the NHL. His agent is an idiot. You can't compare him like every other player….he has to be better, more honorable , …..he has a bad rap that is well deserved. …or maybe he liked it better in the scrum league !!

Campbell is the guy I've wanted all along. I would love to have Strome, I think he has the potential to be a borderline elite player on McDavid's line. Connor Brown seems like a good option, so does Garland, I prefer CG as he's another Zach Hyman type player, but has the best shot out of the 3.
I wouldnt trade xavier bougault. There is somethign special about him. I think hes the only lock of a high potential offensive player that we have drafted in the past 4 years.

Kane
Campbell
Kulek
Brown or strome
Klingberg
And sign russell a 7th dman insurance
Although i like broberg and niemelinen to make the roster if not by end of rhe year
Oilers are testing what the market is for Kane so they don't over pay it's smart but risky

What is the interest in Strome? He was a healthy scratch throughout the season after he couldn't handle being the number one center and couldn't play in the bottom 6 due to defensive deficiencies. Signing a depth 4th line center who can maybe play 3rd line minutes and second powerplay? I don't see the compete level to even play in those positions. What am I missing?
Tim Peel’s comment was opposite. McDavid helped Kanes’s numbers and I think if he goes to the wrong team he will not have the season he just had. Money isn’t everything
The cap space is there now. Kane and his agent has every right to be pissed. Kane proved his worth. Getting anyone else besides Kane, given the on ice tic tac toe chemistry he had with McDavid and Draisaitl would be propelling the Oilers back into another black hole of nothingness again. Even with the Oilers 2 superstars, Kane, like it or not, saved the Oil's 2022 season. Certainly not single handedly, but no other player on the team could keep up in the talent department with McDavid and Draisaitl to bury the endless chances McD and Drai created on a nightly basis. So now we're going back to the roulette wheel and spending a million or 2 less on a wing and a prayer, because it's fiscally responsible? when the right player (Kane) is standing right in front of Holland. Kane's looking at Nurse and thinking, "you gave that dude $9M? Will Nurse save the day next year or the year after that? Come on guys pony up". Just because another UFA might have the numbers and might be cheaper, doesn't mean they'll be the right fit. Kane proved he was the right fit. The entire hockey world saw it. Kane deserves what he's asking for. If Holland has no interest in giving Kane what he wants the Oiler's chances of getting a shot at the cup in 2023 will diminish substantially. How many years has McD and Draisaitl waited for the right player to bust heads and score goals? The answer is – too many. A gut wrenching tragic loss if we lose Kane. And yes, I am a massive fan of Kane as a hockey player, I couldn't give a shit about his personal life. I guess everyone knows where I stand with this post. No grey area here. lol.
Brown might end up doing very well with RNH on the 3rd line. Maybe he can get some PP mins with McDavid too.
If Kane goes shopping I hope he finds what he needs. He did good for us in Edmonton but his ex wife looks to be insistent on making his life miserable and putting herself in the news.
So who knows what's going to happen with Kane. I hope good things though.
Campbell seems like he's gonna be our guy. Hopefully he works out well for us and Skinner continues to grow into a great goalie. Maybe Mike Smith can give him pointers.
Anderson as a replacement for Evander would be a disaster that's like asking for a grapefruit and getting a grape a bruised grape
this is a contract negotiation tactic for both the oilers and Kane. Lets Kane see no one else is offering him anything near that and lets the oilers show Kane, "hey if ya want it, ya got to step up or risk going", to where no one is offering anything close to what we are.
My spidey sense says just hang tough when Kane doesn't get showered with offers it will give him a breadth of humbleness and perspective on the oilers potential with and without his new found career boost NHL appearance profile
He will be an oiler just wait, i say he will look but find hes already home soon as the phone doesn't ring tomorrow morning. it will become an eye opener for his agent and Kane's money hungry aspirations for the coming year.
Which is the only reason i think Kieth is even retiring so would be a pariah in the league knowing a team and player sacrificed so he could get a deal worked out in the current oilers cap hit and he fumbled it afterwards Kieth would be eternally pissed off and every other player and team would have seen this added to his previous social issues on his back i think would sink him , so hope he sees the light before the train hits him outta the tunnel, on Jul13th LOL.

There is such a glut of interesting, and valuable players available this Free Agency. It's pretty bananas how many good players are making it to market. Really hoping Holland does some smart deals.
Patrick any thoughts on Samsonov since the Caps didn't qualify him as they didn't want to pay in 3-3.5mil to be their backup, I know we talked Vanecek last offseason and the Devil's where smart to grab him, I'd have time for a Samsonov Skinner tandem.
I'd be all for the Oilers moving on from Kane and I was glad to hear the deal offered was only 3 or 4 yrs of term like Hollands thinking there, I won't be surprised if Kane circles back around after he finds that the offer from the Oil is far, can't see any team willing to go 7×7 his reported ask.
Replacing Kane with Strome and Brown is a better option here, adding 2 top 9 wingers with experience well still leaving cap space to add more depth goaltending and on the backend, the appealing part is both those guys will be on short term deals leaving the Oil with more flexibility down the road in a yr or 2 if things don't workout.
Kind of a bitch move from Russel. We gave him every shot to win, but he was unable to keep up, and constantly injured. Now he wants to leave a contender to go to a contender? Let him go, I don't want him back.

As an Oilers fan, I'd rather have Giroux for a similar agreement. He is more likeable with a better history. Has some killer highlights as well, which is a fun watch on the YT.

I'm thinking a lot of folks have no clue what we really have for money now vs down the road. I don't know if we have access to the Kelfbom and possibly Smith LTIR money now. If we don't it's really 15 million not 22 million and, oh, yeah, they sheeted 4 players for around 5 million total. Ten million to get a better than average goalie, a 2LD, and a tough scoring winger plus fill out the roster? Ten Million doesn't go that far. If we can actually get to the Klefbox LTIR money (but not Smiths) it helps, a lot, but still not as much as people want or think. Great vid as always. Take care all.
