He is a solid D man. Top 6 any day. How many 1 st rounders made it there. We can afford to trade because of where we are in standings. He is a solid asset on any team. Worth 1 s/t round pick to many teams.

Edmunson is huge in the dressing room, I dont think a 1st round pick from a team like Edmonton is worth it. Edmonton is going to finish pretty high in the standings, so we'd get a 1st round pick, but it wouldn't be til like 26th or 28th or something, I think he's worth more than that. I also wish they'd put Xhekaj on the 2nd D pairing, he's better than Harris, and Kovacevic. Plus get him back out there on the pp, he has 4 goals. Out there on the point on the pp he is elusive, and has that hard wrister, it's easy to tip and fast, and seems hard for goalies to pick up. If I had to choose actually between playing Guhle, Harris, Kovacevic, and Xhekaj, if only one of them could play, this might not be a popular opinion, but id go with Xhekaj, he has the physical game, he can scrap with the best of 'em, he's entertaining, good on D, makes great first passes. I don't know, like i said, it may not be a popular pick, but of all the young D, id pick Xhekaj.

Exactly. I been saying this is the trade for weeks and weeks. I think we get a 1st for as we did with Chiarot. Maybe I'm wrong as Chiarot has a slightly higher offensive touch to his game. Either way if it was me, I trade Edmundson for a 1st or Savard for a 1st if I can't get one for Edmundson. Trade Edmundson if possible and Savard if we have to. Only because Savard is a RH.

There is a 6 foot 6 Czechia goalie, named Michael Hrabal, in the range of where the Edmonton first rounder would be and I would absolutely love if Montreal could trade Edmundson for their first and draft this guy. Goalie prospects is probably our weakest category and he looks to be really good.

Defensemen at the trade deadline command a fortune. Chiarot got a 1st, a 4th and a prospect. And Edmundson is a better d-man with a year left, and very affordable.
I don't think the Habs should trade Edmundson unless they are straight up ripping someone off. You need some vets on the team and I don't like the idea of trading him. He's a leader. And he's reliable. The young defense on this team can sure use someone like him to lean on. He's not old either. He's not 38. And as mentioned, he has a reasonable contract. I'd happily ride out his contact.
To be clear, I'd keep Edmundson around but if Edmonton wants to way overpay for him, I'd probably accept it. But I think that Joel can be a cog in Montreal's Stanley cup winning team. Edmundson, not Armia. I just did Armia wrong, didn't I? 😆
Edmonston hasn’t been playing his best this season, which has no doubt caused his value to dip somewhat however two things to consider. 1. On the habs he has been asked to do more than he is capable of, he’s been treated like a top 2 d man and he isn’t one. He is however a capable number 4 d man, and he gets paid accordingly. This is exactly what Edmonton is looking for, so obviously that increases his value to them. 2. He isn’t a rental, the extra year on his contract gives Edmonton some stability on their back end for another season and this adds significant value, if Montreal were to retain salary which if I’m honest I don’t think they will, that value could get a little bump again. Now with that considered I still have his value as a 1st(late round) or Bourgault if your reaching you add a second rounder to either but I’d be very surprised.

It seems to me that full-timers are not valued enough these days. The chances any drafted player becoming as valuable as a current full timer is rare. And with Eddy, being able to play up and down the lineup, while leading men with his toughness and intangibles, we need to be sure what we get back in return.
People laughed at Benny fetching so much last year, but he's playing a top line role in Florida (out of necessity I'd imagine), just like he did during our finals run. And like Chariot, Edmundson may not be a typical first pair guy but he can still play it if the need arises. This holds value to GMs coaches and teammates.
