Game 20 of this 37-game stretch: 12-7-1
I think I even underrated just how elite Mack is, and the impact he has on the offense. He creates over half of our offense single handedly. He's definitely still the 2nd best player in the league.
Tonight when Moser was talking about Moser city covered in and Avalanche and Rycroft said "I think your messing with me Mos" that was hilarious, I'm liking those 2 together
Miss Peter McNab always
The thing that I see is this team playing really good D so early and the G being solid ,,, that’s very good for a team that’s missing it’s fire power because once those pieces come back you have the solid foundation , if I were other contenders I’d be scared and hope that they don’t get all their players back for the playoffs,,,PS I’m excited about ERid and Newhook getting better and better together when you do get everyone back , pick up your players for the playoffs those guys will be our 3rd line and that will be amazing
We're right where we want to be, Go Avs Go!
Several thoughts, mostly because I’ve been quiet.
1- This is why it can be frustrating with Mikko. He has so much talent and size, but doesn’t always take charge. I’m hoping that this will be what he needs for a true turning point in an already really good career.
2- Sometimes I think guys get in Bednar’s doghouse a little quickly, and he ends up riding some guys too hard. Cale had 31 minutes the other night. I don’t want him wore out late in the season.
3- I think fans are more quiet this year for a couple reasons. One, there’s a definite different feeling in Ball after a Cup win; it isn’t quite as maniacal. I feel it, as we are season ticket holders. Two, it is harder to get into it as so many AHL guys are up here. Three, they just are not very physical, particularly with Manson out. Hard for people to get into a more finesse defense.
Oh, and for the Knicks? John Starks was my guy.
Waiting for Val to hit his stride again. We're still in survival mode, it feels. Good news… we're surviving! Hail Mikko for coming up so huge these last few weeks.
My kingdom for a single game where their goalie doesn't decide to have the game of a lifetime. We knew this would happen, being the champs, but dang it would be nice to catch someone on an off night!
So proud of Mikko. His potential has always been ridiculous and ridiculously frustrating but he's been clutch this year. He's definitely stepping into the void and presenting more of that potential that he's kept on reserve in the past. I believe he's capable of at least 40 goals a season and 120+ points a season.
Certainly not ideal that they aren’t scoring more often. However, snagging 4 points in two games with a single goal in regulation is amazing. The goals will come and help is on the way as I watched video of Mack skating yesterday and he looked really good. Guessing he’s back in a few games.
Georgie has been unreal his last 5 starts only allowing 6 goals! Also mikko is the goat!
This time last year they were putting up seven spots. Avs can win ALL the ways.
Idk how many games we have in January so idk if this number is possible but remember last year we were at this point then we had a 15-0-1 January right after this point so I'm optimistic
Honestly, I'm only slightly concerned about the lack of offense right now. This is likely just a statistical blip in the season where they just aren't getting the bounces to go in. I would rather see the offense struggle a little bit as long as the team defense is playing as well as it is right now. Ideally you would have both aspects of the game peaking in May/June, and that is the end goal here.
Dach is a good player, just don't ask him to cover Makar one on one during 3v3 overtime.
