He’s getting benched retroactively for convincing Fletcher to bring Yandle to the Flyers last season.
Kevin Hayes is disrespecting himself! Needs to clear his head! And Keith Yandle is an idiot!!
Hello Brodes. I disagree about why Torts has benched Hayes. There is fault both ways & both men are stubborn. 1.) Hayes' play has been inconsistent. Granted he's second in points on a bad team. Wouldn't even be a factor if on a better team. Some games he plays 'invisible' especially defensively. Doesn't forecheck, commits costly turnovers. Don't get me wrong – he's not the only one making those kind of mistakes. 2.) Because of his offensive ability he feels entitled to get more playing time. And at 6ft 5in, 235 lbs he can be a force – it's just a shame that he doesn't show it often. 3.) Torts caved in & played Hayes in every offensive situation of the Toronto game, just like Hayes requested. He responded by giving his worst-effort game of the year. Did nothing 5 on 5, took only 1 weak shot on a 6 on 4 Flyers advantage powerplay, & his sloppy defensive play led to a pair of Toronto goals. 4.) In Hayes' mind, somehow he equates his benching to that of his buddy Yandle's last year. Torts wasn't even the coach then. And let's face facts – Yandle probably shouldn't have even been signed in the first place. His skills had diminished so much that he was the worst +/- rated player in the league. He was nothing more than a publicity stunt, sent out there game after game chasing a record. Getting himself & the organization embarrassed every game. Should have been benched long before. And now, somehow Hayes thinks that Torts is treating him the same way. Sorry, but I'm not buying it.
Totally agree with you Brodes (if Torts gets on Kevin too much for too long, I think he should deck his coach! I'm sure I've said this on a number of occasions, but the Flyers are not watchable, hey, up until the past 2 or 3 years, I watched every game I could of all four of our major league teams, but I'll be 72 next month, and I've got better things to do than waste hours watching a bad team or a good team without good chemistry (Sixers) nope, not gonna do it, I'll see how both teams are doing when it gets close to playoff time, if either team is playing great I may watch the games again, but right now, nope, not happening!
