The reason it's taken so long for TNT to come on clearly has to do w/ the fact that Kreuger was messing w/ everyones confidence in Buffalo until Donny Meatballs come through to rescue this franchise. Its amazing the difference between the players under Granato and kreuger. This joker had Skinner on the 4th line and was often times healthy scratching the 2nd best scorer on the squad now. Clown show. Regardless – Tommer's confidence has gone through the roof since he got paired w/ Tuch. Tuch plays so well defensively that it's allowing those outlet passes from Dahlin to Skinner/Thompson to connect and setup easier chances in the offensive zone & that first line is capitalizing on them. If UPL comes on and is just average – the Sabres could make that 8th playoff spot of NYI/FLA in the East.

About a year and a half ago, I thought "Wow, this guy has some really nimble moves for a big guy". I kept seeing plays where is stickwork was REALLY good. I think he was starting to click even before last year. I'm not saying that I predicted last year, or this year for him. But I'm not shocked. Many aspects of his game were getting there a few seasons ago.
TNT is the Sabres version of Josh Allen
His wife went through complications with cancer for a few years. I think, understandably, it really took its toll on Tage. Since she has made a recovery it's like something just clicked in Tage.

Sabres haven't seen stickwork like this since Tim Connelly. Patrick Kane with 8 inches. There were never be another Mario but Tage makes u think about him at times.
PLEASE. He may become a star, but he's NOT Lemieux. Lemieux scored 133 goals and 149 assists for 282 points in his last season in Junior. The league knew he was "the next one" and saw him coming from miles away. They knew he was going to be in the conversation with Gretzky. Thompson was taken 26th overall in 2016 and is blossoming now.
I can't say for certain, but it seems like he broke out shortly after Eichel left.
