Well, you said basically all that's worth saying. Crosby is the BEST player obvioulsy, but Rakell has been outstanding.
Rakell would be the best player on 80 percent of the rest of nhl teams.

I think Sam may be reticent about contributing here any more 🙂 I really think the Pens playoff struggles are not a function of the goal tending altho goaltending is obviously a big part of the equation for everything hockey. Louie was good enough to allow the team to create big leads in games and in the series vs the Rangers last playoff season. I think this is a tale of 2 seasons..the regular season and the playoff season. The playoff season requires a different type of team than the regular season. The Pens are built for the regular season, not the playoff season IMO. Other teams know this and know how to exploit.
Rakell plays the scoring-punch potential that they used to have with Phil in his prime with us. And, he's a much better two-way player. Lately, he's even been making some hits and has been tough along the boards. Now, if ONLY Carter would get going….
