Ryan Merkley not buying into a garbage system is a sign of intelligence. McCarthy probably did him a favor if he is to be traded. He can be coached up by a coach worth his scratch.
Also it's funny talking about not seeing any progression and cutting ties. You've been doing this podcast for awhile now and it's brutal listening to you gather your thoughts as you talk. You'd think there'd be a little comfortability on camera by now. It's a tough listen but as Sharks fans we are used to not having nice things.
Dude… we should’ve sold high on him two years ago. Now we’re left holding the bag, as usual. 😒
I remember the "Merkley window" on this podcast …. rip.
That’s a bummer. Merkley still has a lot of promise. Seems like the Sharks org has always zeroed in on Merkley’s weaknesses instead of developing his strengths.
Could the Merkley situation be salvaged if he were converted to a forward,???
Get something from his offensive abilities???
Perhaps his attitude would improve as I have to believe he would feel like the shackles of defensive responsibility would be significantly removed.
This franchise is starved for offense. Maybe Merkley can help,?!?
It would be better than sending him elsewhere for little or nothing. Perhaps management should think outside the box before calling it quits on this player? Maybe he can post numbers as a forward? Worth a try IMO.
