The Oilers absolutely need to bring back Evander Kane. Even if it's on a short-term deal.
It looks like Keith will retire. He is only making 1.5 mil in real money. If he retires his cap hit and 3.3 mil in recature come back to the oilers. Barrie should be able to get moved for a low pick or a 4th liner. Also Smith I think is done he doesn't need the money and I think he calls it a career. So there is money that can be had there also with Kassian u can give a 2nd to sweaten the deal and maybe a b level prospect. Holland should get pushed upstairs and bring in a new GM. If a GM has some creativity they can retool on the fly to make this a more balanced team.
Here's what the Oilers will do:
1) Trade Tyson Barrie for a pick or 2 (no salary retention). As a right-shot D, he has value, so this shouldn't be too difficult.
2) Move Kassian with a sweetener for the cap space.
3) Promote Stuart Skinner to play with Smith or whoever they bring in to share goalie duties.
4) Promote some of the younger players like Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg at some point for the nice cheap ELC contracts.
Don't really matter what moves the Coilers make they are still garbage and BLOW BIG TIME
For the price Smith is a good deal. Edmonton fans know they have a cap problem.
Definitely bring back Kane and hopefully kieth and smith retire 🙏

Reports are looking like Kane wants term and the yearly number starts with a 7 if it's the oilers and an 8 with anyone else. It's going to be a busy off season for Holland between Kane, resigning Yams, figuring out Puljujarvi's future with the team, finding a trade for Kassian and potential Barrie and then waiting to see what Smith and Keith decide to do. If Keith retires it frees up his 5.5 mil plus we a 3 ish million cap bonus so if he did retire it would be huge
As for the goalie situation, the feelings on edmonton are very mixed when it comes to Smith. And also changes game by game it seems. I will say that most of the fans in the city I've talked to love Smith the personality even if sometimes the on ice play can leave something to be desired. That being said, overall he had a decent playoffs, our defense were the ones that really struggled

Order of importance would be signing Woodcroft, then signing a 1A goalie, and then trying to resign or replace Kane, and hope there's something left to fill a D spot.
They'll need their prospects to really step it up. It looks like it'll be another lean cap year.

Smith – Will either retire or be on LTIR. He has serious health issues.
Keith – Will be on LTIR.
Kane – He's going to get $7 million for 6 seasons from someone. He won't be an Oiler. They just don't have the money.
Kulak – Oilers would love to keep him.
Kuzmenko – Oilers are the front-runner to sign him, but it's a one year ELC and then he can leave as a UFA if he wants next season.
The Oilers have four defensive prospects in the AHL ready to start playing in the NHL.
Stuart Skinner is one of the goalies in Edmonton this season. Ville Husso is my guess who the other goalie is.
The Nurse contract is incredibly stupid.
