Tyler, you're running a podcast. Start making sense. The more you defend Nurse's 5 mistakes a night you're losing credibility with every minute that rolls by in the podcast. Say what you really feel rather than constantly giving lip service to the sports world because you're worried you're going to piss people off.

there is no debate, he is now, and was before, nothing more than a 3.5 mil defenseman. And he wont/can't be traded now with the 9.3 mil joke of a contract.
The answer is to pull a rabbit out of a hat, and get out from under nurse's terrible contract—– you could get two very decent defenseman to replace that garbage…..and be a contender.

He's playing the same as broberg, niemeläinen and bouchard are, kids making league minimum, are going to make mistakes, will also have limited offensive abilities. Niemeläinen is a better blueliner than Nurse—at least he hits, and wait until he fills out!!
Maybe someone can ask Nurse to cough up half his wage for a real defenseman
This IS the "nail in the coffin" preventing a stanley cup! Will be for Eight more years—ask McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman, RNH and Kane if they are ok with sticking around that long to drink from the cup.
It still amazes me that he was able to conjure that contract to begin with, he never "earned" or showed the potential to be a nine+ player. I would have offered 4 for 4, at best….take it or leave it….and if he thought he was worth more, then by all means go and get it. Let some other team have a brain fart and take that huge jump into the deep end.

Nurse is not a #1 defenseman.
Nurse is a complementary 1st pairing defenseman with a real elite partner, otherwise he is a 2nd pairing defenseman at best.
Nurse was never good defensively we know that.. the sample size is not 32 games it’s his entire career until he had a good half a year then he’s back to what he normally is…. Bouchard is gonna be the same
He is a true number 1/ 2 defenceman…….he is being overplayed…..that’s all !
LoL. He's a decent 2nd pairing D man if and when paired with a true stay at home solid D man. But he's not and never has been a #1. He's about 4.5 mill over payed. He has the physical ability, but the hockey IQ there just isn't close to a #1.
Oilers have been 2-3 solid D men short for most of the last 30 years. After losing Larson and Russell, they are as far away as ever.
I agree with Tyler that we are 1-2 defensive pieces away from a contending blue line. I disagree that Bouch and Barrie are too similar. Barrie is much quicker and much more agile than Bouch and I think he has better hands. Bouch clearly has the better shot.
Nurse doesn't live up to a 9.25M dman offensively or defensively. One weakness is transitioning the puck quickly in the dzone and overcommits when on the defensive. He is a great skater and Manson and co. have to get him reading the play better and being better defensively.
Annoying, mouthpiece has never even seen a cup caliber Oilers team or D, no wonder he sounds so clueless. Thought he was annoying beyond hell on radio, no wonder no one watches this lol
His style is to lay down , how is he gonna improve on that? Nurse is clueless on how to read and apply pressure to the open man in the slot 🤡

High flying offence floundering in mediocrity. May or may not make playoffs. Reason team defense is laughable. Nurse for 9 mil is way laughable. 4.5 -6 mil is the ceiling for Nurse if you are getting the best Darnell Nurse. You want to build your defense around a guy who is a liability as often as he shines? As an outside observer watching this franchise underachieve regularly it is my opinion that this team has dramatically overvalued Nurse for quite some time now. This guy is only going to be a top Dman on a mediocre to bottom feeder team. Never a top Dman on a team that will get much consideration as a top contender. We've all seen that any team can contend once the playoffs begin. Time to take the blinders down a notch and really scrutinize what you have with Nurse, a 4.5 mil cap deficit!

Honestly the oilers have got a lot out of Barrie and didn't need 1 9.25m offensive defenceman they needed 2 defensive defenceman. Nurse is a wash right now.
