I'm convinced that it wasn't a dirty/malicious hit, just a check that went sideways. Unfortunately, for Kelly, because it's a game misconduct penalty, the DoPS is going to take a look at it. Kelly's a young guy, and I don't think the DoPS is going to do much on him.

Murphy turned his back to Kelly at the last second. I'm not sure there was much Kelly could do at that point in time.
Very unfortunate. If Murphy hadn't hit his chin on the corner of the boards I don't think he would have been knocked out.
I have gave this a thumbs down solely on the fact that not one player challenged the guy who delivered that hot to a fight. What message is sent with no message. Come the f on this was a time you have to pound that guys face in. Sometimes not but this was imperative

While it is always on the person making the hit to try and make sure they are making a clean hit there nothing he can do here he already leaning into the check he Murphy turns it’s just an unfortunate reminder to not turn with your back to the boards
I wish there was a way for the league to suspend a player who injures someone with an illegal hit for as long as the player injured is out.
I can tell that Kelly wasn't trying to hurt Murphy, he was just trying to do a regular hit.
Both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Seeing both teams, not just his own teammates. Showing care. NHL has many, many players who are just…despite how aggravating they may be to play against…they have class. I don’t remember hearing about this last season, but…sadly, I am grateful to have seen this now.
When you’re already committed to a hit and the player getting hit changed posture out of no where, there’s no changing the hit at this point.
