I know it’s a little antiquated but I think we need a big nasty winger to go after guys who touch Mcdavid. Two knee on knee hits this year, with no retaliation, that’s embarrassing.

If any of these moves come to pass and turn out bad, we'll be paying for it for years and could also potentially see some valuable picks / prospects heading out the door. And I'll remind everyone again…. our cap space is NILL and we have Kane coming back.
Gavrikov is pretty much the front runner for oil country at this point if Chycarun isn't coming in according to Freidman. Chicago & Edmonton should have been in talks bout a huge deal in place probably next month or February bringing in Max Domi should be one of the players in the trade discussion as for Lafferty he could be in the mix for a bottom six addition for the lineup. Jonathan Toews I don't think he's coming here seems like Winnipeg are going all in to acquire a Veteran like Toews.
I totally agree. The Oilers' defensemen aren't "quick enough" making plays and moving the puck out of their zone. Getting a defenseman that can stop the cycle and play defensively is only going to partially address this. They need defensemen that can move the puck out of their defensive zone quickly enough and with finesse – i.e. a Chychrun. … And some of their current defensemen have to be coached to make plays more quickly!
As I have said often, Gavrikov is the most likely target and would be the best Dman to fit the Oilers need. He's a big strong defensive D who is handling big minutes on a weak Columbus team. A bonus for Garikov is that at 27, he's at a great age that you can re-sign if he fits in well with the team.
Chychrun is an impossible deal for the Oilers to make, adds more offense when the Oilers need defense, and is too often injured to be relied upon. Besides, the ask is huge in addition to the problem of trying to find a 3rd team that wants to take on multi year salary and cap hit.
Edmundson would be a second choice as the asking price would still be high but manageable as would be the cap hit. His size and toughness/meaness are good, but he would have a hard time on a 2nd paring keeping up with the Oilers skating. He also is prone to being injured.
What an enigma….we all know what we need, it just seems like were between a rock and a hard place financially and I am not sure it will improve much given upcoming contracts next year. I know we need a solid L Dman, and for heavens sake Mr. Holland a 12-13th 4th line forward who is willing to say it's ok Ref I'll take care of it…..nothing like trying to trade commodities that others are not interested in….I have to say though, I sure am glad I am not the GM….I am sure he is trying….and Ken is not in a position of them needing what we have……at all…..
Keeping in mind we have three playoff chances left in our cup Window until Leon is a UFA I would try and get Domi and Jack Johnson for this year's run. Then go fill out need on the Left side via UFA next summer for our final two kicks at the can.

I have really liked Barrie this year and has played well. I too still want Chychrun as an Oiler.
