Ce fut une ascension fulgurante et une franchise sinueuse depuis la fin de leurs victoires dans les années 90. 1. A silly question then. Is the Lucic condition based on a full season?
Or how does it work with injuries or healthy scratches?

  2. Man Pocklington made everything just sad. Glad I was too young to be depressed about that. Also the bad trades in the beginning was Pocklington being cheap and the end was Chiarelli being Chiarelli haha

  3. Bad trades and money hurt them. But look at their drafting in the 90's. They drafted Jason Arnott and one bust after another.

  4. I'm a McDavid fan and a Leafs fan. I would trade Matthews and Kapanan and a first pick (protected) for McDavid.

  5. 3 years before "The Trade"!! Jerry Buss who was then the Lakers & Kings owner offered Pocklington $15 million dollars to acquire Gretzky. Buss wanted a star of Gretzky's caliber to help draw fans to Kings games & put them on the map. Pocklington instead declined the deal saying that now wasn't the appropriate time to make such a transaction, but in 1988 it was the appropriate time because Pocklington wanted the cash.

  6. One of the great what ifs in hockey history is what if the Oilers were able to keep the band of the 80s dynasty together until the end of their careers. How many more Cups do they collect? 8 Cups, 10 Cups?

  7. Something most don’t know about the original 21 year contract Gretzky signed is that it was a personal services contract to Pocklington. Meaning, Gretzky could’ve been Pocklington’s maid, personal chef, or anything like that😂

  8. Never really realized how soul crushingly depressing their history is. Til now. Why do I support this team lol

  9. Public enemies in Edmonton
    1. Peter Poklington
    2. Peter Chiarelli
    3. Pronger’s wife

  10. in Edmonton at the fair yesterday "kdays" a carnie asks this little boy on the mic who his favorite oiler is .the kid responds James Neal .I kid you not

  11. The condition on Neal/Lucic is Neal having 10 more than Lucic as well as 21+

  12. You did well. There was a ton of crap to cover, but I think you missed a few trades in the 90's that helped them squeak into the playoffs when the team was still pinching pennies.

  13. Edmonton’s trading has been shocking for the most part! Wonder will they move Puljujärvi out

  14. Another trade though not as prominent as the trades you mentioned was when they got Don Murdoch from the Rangers in 1980. Don Murdoch didn't last long in the NHL and he was suspended in 1978 for substance abuse, but I remember he looked very good with the Rangers. Of course the Oilers had Gretzky, but also I felt at the time that with this trade they were making smart decisions.

  15. When you start at the top you only have one way to go. Oilers are now learning how to climb back up from the whole of bad trades and poor management. Still watching because that's what real fans do. Which is worse Taylor Hall for Adam L. or Reinhardt for Number 1 draft pick?…. Trick question. I agree it was the Wayne Gretzky trade.

  16. I realize your video output keeps you too busy to respond to many comments, but it is worth mentioning the ownership situation through all this for the Oilers (possible series there) – Pocklington as you point out was basically treating the team as a piggy bank to loot for his personal gain and destroyed the dynasty, but after he was forced out it was an ownership group that took over. I know one of the partners and we are all grateful that they saved our franchise, but they lacked the financial resources to make any headway. Combined with the low Canadian dollar at the time, you woulda needed Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill from MoneyBall to have made any deals. Now we have an owner with the bucks, and seemingly the desire, combined with a salary cap . . . and Peter Chiarelli comes in and guts us. It would appear that Holland has made some positive moves so far, but there is not much in the recent past to compare him to that would make anything he does look bad at this point.

  17. I think the Oilers have improved from last year but likely not enough to be a playoff team this year. Holland has done great with 1 year deals in the bottom 6 and some D talent is bubbling in the AHL. They'll have $25-30M in cap space next year, so I expect them to be a playoff team in 2020-2021 and a contender in 2021-2022.

  18. Lived in Edmonton almost all my life; most of my friends are into hockey & I've never been one to really understand the appeal, I grew up watching & playing basketball for the most part, but I've decided this upcoming season I'm gonna try my hand at trying to watch the sport & learn the rules of hockey & the history behind the Oilers!!!

  19. Sorry!! No respect fot the oilers .l tank too many seasons collecting # 1 picks till they scored the next great one .( McDavid)who is A TREMENDIUS TAlEN"T!F:;

  20. Bear the Cat is saying, "I am trying to take a nap here, can you just get to the end already…"
