Better is always better, but I’ll take 7th in sv% for the rest of the year

These date breakdowns are all « whole season » and not « since the last bookmark » right?

Florida being sunk by their own shooting luck and iffy goaltending is just a tiny bit hilarious given the crazy shit that went down this summer.
Toronto is improving everywhere with the exception of goaltending, but I remind you all that while things look great on the surface, it’s not all roses.
Scoring appears to be down league-wide this season, and substantially too. It’s unclear to what degree this will last, but where the Panthers led at 3.38 goals per 60 last season (5on5), the Kraken lead the league at 3.08 this season.
It’s hard to tell if the goaltending itself has been that much of a factor as the trend of lowered scoring has also reflected in sv%. Toronto’s goaltending is 92.88% this season, vs 90.78 at 5on5. Even accounting for shot events, Toronto’s defensive metrics have barely changed other than the end result (2.69 GAA vs. 1.87 GAA at 5on5). But expected goals against have gotten worse (2.25 xGA/60 vs. 2.38 xGA/60) while the offense has barely changed much (2.87 xGF/60 vs. 2.84 xGF/60).
Toronto hasn’t really changed their game, but the league in general has shifted to more defensive hockey I think. But despite not all being roses, this might be a good thing for the Leafs as their defense is already quite tidy, and their offense has been showing some signs of waking up.
