JAKUB VRANA ANNULÉ ! ?

I think Stevie Y waived him because he knows he will clear & maybe because Stevie knows that he needs more time to get into game shape. Let’s hope he clears

  2. I feel like there’s some more behind the scenes, in the shadows type stuff going on with Vrana and the Red Wings. I really feel this is deeper than just roster space just by the way they’ve been handling the whole situation avoiding questions, the whole social media deal, the nhlpa thing really nervous about him

  3. The following is taken directly from NHL CBA:
The “Wade Redden Rule” (paragraph 50.5(d)(i)(B)(6)), states that for purposes of computing a team’s average salary for cap compliance, salaries for players on a one-way contract count to the extent that they are higher than the minimum NHL salary plus $375,000.

What this means is, No, a team can't just stick a guy in the AHL and be absolved if his CAP Hit…If unclaimed, Varana's salary counts against the Wings Cap…🤔

  4. Vrana is gone. Forget it. I have no idea if he'll ever be able to be a full time NHL player but a team will take a gamble for sure.

Yzerman must know something very few people know I guess. And he's willing to let him go. Now you better sign Larkin and try to resign Bertuzzi a bit cheaper because of all his injuries.

This team has very few pure goal scorers in the team or in the tank. I love Berggren and Soderblom but they will not score 30-40 goals in this league. If they lose Vrana plus Bertuzzi and maybe even Larkin, Yzerman's plan will look pretty bleak.

  5. My take is Vrana doesn’t have his head in the game. How does Fabbri go straight to the active roster after a acl and not Vrana. He didn’t even want to come up from Grand Rapids after 3 games. He doesn’t want it bad enough for whatever reason. If he doesn’t get claimed hopefully this is a wake up call. If he does get claimed so be it. Regardless of the talent you don’t want someone who is half assing it on a team that is trying to build a winning culture that already can’t get their shit together for a full 60 minutes as it is.

  6. WTF!!!!!!!!!

There must be something behind the scenes as on paper this makes absolutely ZERO sense.

A decent possibility is Yzerman knows Vrana is very likely to head back to the player assistance program and is worthless now.

Otherwise it is an insane and unnecessary risk. Vrana is gone unless it’s clear to the league he is basically done (this must be the case, otherwise why wouldn’t you trade him for something rather than just waive him)

  7. My first initial thought was Stevie are you insane? He's one of the best scores you have. And you wave them for why? When there's worst players to get out of, but then I was thinking of it from a different point of view. Like you guys are saying he might be doing this as a Gamble, I see it as him playing a game of poker and trying to get everybody to fold because it is a prime time to try it. You can very well still want to have him on the team but sees it as he's had two shortened seasons with injuries then he played two games and went to the players assistance program and came back but still doesn't look up to speed yet on top of his 5 million hit would probably deter teams from getting him especially with this upcoming draft and the probabilities of a first pick. So like you guys both said we'll have to wait and see I'm hoping he stays but we'll see, all I got to say is this someone picks them up going to definitely light a fire on that boy and he's not going to be happy coming back to Detroit LOL. But dark side of The matter there is possibility that there's some other underlying stuff we don't know so only time will tell. Other than that great show guys and stay frosty

  8. A pissed off Vrana may motivate him and increase his trade value next year. Look what Yzerman did with Drouin when he was with the Lightning. A player motivated to get out will train hard and play well and maybe we can get a decent return in a future trade

  9. Vrana is going through a lot right now, and Stevie has seen other friends and teammates have to do the same thing he has. He is either not ready mentally or needs a change of scenery to do what's right for his own well being. Pretty sure this is much bigger than just playing hockey

  10. I’ve been saying since October when he comes back, there’s a good chance he will be waived or traded, and I caught so much heat. This is a business.

  11. All these comments saying there's no way he's going to clear waivers…. I actually doubt it. The number of teams that can actually seriously take on this contract is small, and clearly this guy has some serious baggage. I think he'll clear. We'll see what happens.

  12. Yzerman knows what he is doing and has lots of tools to work with. Vrana had a lot of injuries and likely personal issues developed out of that…mixed thoughts about Fabbri coming in we will have to see
