  1. That was disgusting. Also, someone please never let Hyman and Puljujarvi near the top line again. Ever. They're nowhere near that level.

  2. Always push the shooter you forget to cover into your own goalie. A time honored D Play. Just Horrible D overall yet again. Last year, other then for about 5 mins in late January, I was very sure they would make the playoffs. This year, with this D, I think they won't make it to the playoffs without some serious D man improvement, and I think that will require a Trade. Bad Eggs!

  3. LA in the last 10 seasons.
2 cups, a retool, and second in the pacific year 10.

    Oilers last 10
2 first overall picks, and 5 top 10 picks.
    3 series wins.
And hardly a wildcard team year 10.

  4. Man that offside review really pushed out all that positive energy in the arena. I bet Oilers tie it if that goal counts. BTW as a NHL fan I hate all the reviews.

  5. This one falls entirely on the coach and G.M.
Broberg and Bouchard playing together? I despise the play of Nurse in almost every game but he looked like a stud tonight compared to Kulak, Broberg, Bouchard, and Barrie. But then start them in the defensive zone?

    Get Chycherun already!

  6. lol, 5-1? Sorry Bruce but you don't understand how bad this defence is and how well hidden their deficiencies are when they play with McDavid and Draisatl every shift.

  7. Since the podcast mentions Russell, the last 12-15 games he played with the Oilers, he looked better then he ever had here. Was at his best D he could play, but was getting the odd dangerous shot in and looking for more scoring opportunity's as well. I had no doubt that he would have come in very handy this year.. etc. etc. Lol.

  8. At the end of the day, the Oilers are 1 or 2 trades and or acquisitions away from being a really good team. Defense might need more than just a nip and a tuck. A top 4 Defenseman should be chopped (Not Ceci or Barrie) and 2 new Defensemen should be injected. Why not Gavrikov and Klinberg? Trade Bouchard or Kulak. Offer Jesse Puljujarvi. Give up a second pick. Be ready to give up Niemeleinen or Broberg and I think everyone would rather keep Broberg. That's a lot of trading value. Ken Holland's got the ball in his court.

  9. I stopped watching this game, yet again, at the 3-2 mark.
This team has no concept of what they get paid to play, and what their fans sacrifice to attend these home games.
Attending fans should now be demanding Katz and the OEG to be stripping the player's salaries to reimburse every seat sold in the oh-so-great 'Rogers Place'.
Maybe, something like this will jolt the team to start playing like a team who earn astronomical millions of dollars not to mention the astronomical prices of tickets to attend these abysmal performances of a so-called professional sports team.
McDavid and Draisaitl are good but, not at these prices.
I am not impressed any longer with any accolade this team or any member of this team sporadically achieves.
I grew up with the 'Ice Capades' and the 'Harlem Globetrotters' and this team is nowhere near as entertaining as the Oilers of the 80s, McDavid notwithstanding.
Fans should start boycotting attendance and maybe management will start to take action toward the effect of their investment(s).
One word sums it all up…
    Disgusting.🤬

  10. I hate to be this guy. But please stop watching stop supporting. Don't spend time or money. And if enough of us pull back someone will get fired and we will see positive results. If not they just happy takin your money. This is a crap product besides a power play.

  11. OMG, I can't stop laughing at the final minute where Staples says Darnell Nurse is stepping up. I remember a 6-minute mark when the Oilers went down 3 and just resumed after a coach's time out and Nurse goes wheeling up the ice, coughs up the puck, and almost gives up another breakaway. 30 seconds later he loses the puck in his feet.
What game are you guys watching?

  12. Bruce is right about the Oilers always rolling out the red carpet for the opposition. Another thing they’re good for is helping the visiting players bust out of scoring slumps.

  13. One trade is not going fix this team’s defense. They are soft and they are careless. And that applies to a lot of them. They take turns throwing away games (tonight it was 27 & 2, & 25 on the PK). 5 on 5, this team is neither desperate nor consistent – and they play like they are Entitled. Entitled players don’t learn from their mistakes and they think that they don’t have to play 60 minute games. … Don’t count on them making the playoffs – because (as a whole team) the Golden Knights, the Kings, and the Kraken want it Much More than they do.

  14. I thought Jesse had a decent game. At least he hits and checks which brings me to the guy that always seems to duck criticism and that’s Ryan McLeod. I never see him doing anything significant. I wonder if he’s even touched an opposing player, let alone hit or check. Harold Ballard would describe McLeod as a player that can go into the corner with a dozen eggs and not have a single one broken.

  15. History repeats itself….. once again! Defense and rebounds kills us this year. Face off in your own end you should always place a defender behind the face off unless you are short handed. The defender gets a better look of loose puck and can react or the face off man draws it back toward him or corner. Defense needs to be simple and work hard both have been lacking!

  16. Technically speaking, the Oilers have a very good hockey club except for several never ending issues. They aren't executing on their chances. They know that their defensive game is rotten. They know that their loyal fans want them to succeed and that they owe this to their supporters. Even so, they can't find consistency or become lethargic despite all of the great efforts by their coaching staff and a few individual players. But, why?? Would some trades help? Perhaps, but who is going to want players who aren't performing? I don't envy Ken Holland but something substantial must be done to put an end to this lethargy and to motivate this team to their expected capabilities if not more.

  17. Boys don't disagree but the Oilers expected growth from Yamo, JP, Bouchard and Broberg all have failed. This has put pressure on several positions on the team and why it looks so disjointed.

  18. Manson has to go. He clearly isn't doing his job. We are watching shameful defence from top to bottom and have been for a long time. TIME TO MAKE A MOVE

  19. OILERS HAVE THE MANPOWER. THEY LACK MOTIVATION. MANSONS PROBLEM. HE SHOULD BE ON VERY THIN ICE

  20. This defense is soooooo fuckn baaaaad!!! Useless. Lazy. Turnovers. Soft. Just absolute garbage

  21. This is the team Ken Holland assembled, this is the type of team Ken Holland wants to build. Ken Holland won't be able to make a significant trade to shake this team up. Ken Holland has spent up to the cap and then claims there is no cap space to make a move. Ken Holland will bring in a 700+ game nhl defenseman at the trade deadline for a fourth round pick. This team won't do well in the playoffs, if they even make it.

  22. Don’t have time right now to watch this video but I do watch all of them. I’ve been giving the Oilers mulligans with their injuries, etc. However, last night for me was a watershed moment with his team. They don’t have it. Their defence is not good enough. They can do it once in a while like in the last Dallas game but Not consistently. Watching Larsson last night I could only dream of what could’ve been. This team will not go deep in the playoffs with this defense. There’s no way the young defenceman will be able to handle that grind, they can’t even handle the regular season. Bouchard was awful (last night was the culmination of several weeks of increasingly poor play) and Broberg is not there yet either. Kulak’s game has been lacklustre for a while now. I think defensive pairings likely need to change. Consistently, there is an opposing player between our goalie and our defenceman in front of the net… that’s certainly not a strategy for success.

  23. They do give up goals on defensive zone face offs on a regular basis. Twice in last night’s game. Don’t know if it’s their flawed system or players confused about their system. Guys look lost out there in their own zone.

  24. David.
“Other than Ceci and Nurse, who plays a hard game?”
Huh? The only thing hard about Nurse’s game is that it is hard to watch.
Is pushing the guy you forgot about on top of your own goalie while the puck is still in play a “hard game”?

  25. This is not a playoff team. They will be lucky to make the playoffs. Is Kane going to be enough to get us there? I don't think so.

  26. Worst D core in the league. Immature and soft, bunch of guys that want to be offensive allstars all the while neglecting the number one component of the position. DEFENDING.

Oil Nation has had enough either fix it or watch Drai and McD walk after their contracts.

  27. Unfortunately this is a pattern all season with the defence, but also the offensive let’s off the gas after 20. They need start playing like they are fighting for playoffs spot, they have a good team they can play a full 60, but they are not doing it. I feel for the fans that go to the games it’s embarrassing. Bouchard and kulak not good tonight clean it up! Let’s go Oilers !

  28. This team is in desperate need of a shake up. NOW. Cap hell makes it more difficult, true, but It must start on the backend. Evan Bouchard deserves the criticism for his performance again last night. He does not play a hard enough defensive game. He is way too passive in front of his net, doesn’t engage physically and reacts too slowly. It is a real problem. But he’s not the only culprit back there. This team must also add someone who can consistently win draws in the defensive zone, especially on the PK. If that comes with some snarl—all the better. Waiting until the trade deadline—or thinking the return of Evander Kane will cure all of what ails this team would be a grave mistake for the Oilers’ playoff chances.

  29. My 2 buddies and I share half a season with 3 seats. We have been to 13 games this season and seen 3 wins. Every year when we renew our tickets I say the same thing …..
"It's got to get better eventually". Apparently not this year again. I'm sending the Oilers my ulcer medication invoice !

  30. Oilers are all power play … 5 0n 5 they lose puck possession battle to the opponent without 2 guys…. passing and puck control are lacking….fundamentals…and the young guys on this team are not making strides…. they are literally and figuratively fanning on easy shots.
