The fan base is truly split between those looking at all the stats showing the defense not giving up many shots and the goalies having below average save percentage and goals saved above expected and those saying their eye test is telling them the defense is hanging the goalies out to dry and the defense is actually bad despite what the stats are saying.
It’s not surprising that national writers are going to depend more on what the stats are saying.
I think a coinflip is fair. If the team that played the oilers last night keeps showing up, we make the playoffs, if the team that played the oilers December 30th starts showing up, we don’t. At this point it’s hard to say which way it will go.
>The defense is great
if you took a big hit off whatever is in this guys bong they would need to peel you off the ceiling
And yet another piece by a “journalist” who just looks at surface numbers without doing any kind of deep dive. The fact they put the blame on the goalie numbers in the goaltenders and not the horrible play of the skaters on the nights the goalies struggled should instantly tell you not to put much weight in this article.
Their defense needs to step it up. Particularly on special teams. It’s hard to beat teams when your PK is next to last while your PP is mediocre at best. They were looking better at special teams early in the season, but they look stagnant out there recently
Doesn’t have to be binary for me. Defense is great isn’t an accurate take IMO. Better this year but that, goaltending and PK are biggest improvement opportunities. For me goaltending still Kraken weakest link after PK so far this year….tho I am thrilled with ROI on Martin Jones
Coin toss is correct. No way you can definitively say that they will or won’t make it. Jekyll and Hyde is the best description of this team.
Even though I don’t agree with everything in their assessment I think coin flip is an accurate statement. As it stands we’re super inconsistent, so even if we make it I don’t see us making a deep run. Regardless of our issues, it seems like we’re trending in the right direction. This year’s team is way more fun to watch than last year’s.
