Bunting is 27. This is only his second season and he makes (relative) peanuts. His earning window could close in just a few years. He is playing on the top line of the Toronto Maple Leafs and is producing, is contributing. There will be no home town discount unless there is an under the table deal to hire him into a “public relations” job and make it up to him then.

Players have a limited window to make massive amounts of money for their future. I wouldn’t take a discount having the best year of my life…I like bunting but playing with matthews and nylander ice is more available than if you were on a 3rd or 4th line.
Time to cash in he deserves it.
