Agree something has to happen. Kosin deserves a shot with McD. Jesse experiment needs to end. Others need their opportunity. Defense has been the biggest disappointment this season . Campbell has not been great but a soft non confident defense did not help. Keep the vids rolling.
I see Jakob Chychrun in the want list instead of the need list. The Oilers still lack big tough defensemen that can win battles in front and behind the net.
I'm having a difficult time believing any of those moves would help for more than a few games. That seems to be the permanent pattern around here. Make some key player moves, a coaching change or whatever and the team gets a bounce for 20 – 30 games or so then slowly but surely falls back into its funk again.
It always seems to be the same old song around here. We've always got our eyes on some player or players somewhere else who we think is going to get us over the top or some coach who's somehow magically going to turn everything around….. but it never works for more than a half season at most.
I hate to be so pessimistic but I've seen this movie so many times now and the ending is always the same.
Guys that aren’t working out (in my opinion)
Evan Bouchard: scores the occasional goal but burps up the puck way too much and isn’t that goo defensively this year and looks lost
Nurse: same reasons as Bouchard
Holloway: doesn’t really put up points like he should be
Campbell: make himself small and allows way too many goals
Pulji: doesn’t use his size like he should and has like 4 points this entire season and plays 3-4 line at best and doesn’t work well with McDavid
I’m sure there is more but I can think of anymore.

I believe we have reached the point where we have e not been winning and therfore Holland is unsure if we will make the playoffs and so no has to wait to see if we improve on our own otherwise he will be spending and we may not make it. He waited to long. Too many games have gone by. We may be active at the deadline but if we aren't in the mix to make it be prepared to see not much happen.
Bouchard, puljujarvi, foegle and Yamamoto can get the hell out of oil country. WE NEED CHYCHRUN, at least a top 4 defenseman and even a bottom 6 D, and some bottom 6 depth forwards. This oilers team needs a remodel, Holland needs to quit waiting and make a move.

100% Patrick is on Track Here, The time is Now for the Oilers to go all out and make some deals happen, Halfway in the season so far & right now nothing's gonna change this team going forward into 2023 as their lack of struggles will make their record much worse if nothing comes down from Ken Holland himself. We waited for this moment very long time now probably after a decade of darkness of no playoff successes even with Mcdavid and Draistal haven't help their team make a run for a Stanley Cup in many past years. All I'll say is that Damn GM better do his Job Responsible, Get the Right Pieces like a Chychrun, Domi, Gavrikov ,Lafferty, MacEwan, Kapanen, Duclair, Roslovic, Edmundson, Bennett, Ekholm, Toews, Kane, anyone that the oilers need to make a push for a playoff round will have to get the best help they can acquire before the deadline. It's not gonna wait for the fans in Oil Country anymore the patience is long gone for them & myself included to call out on Gm Uncle Ken to get his butt to work on this Blueline situation right here, Or He can just let it all stay in place for another year wasted with no extra help needed on defense or depth then all of his history will be completely wasted here in EDM after the Oil miss playoffs disappointing Connor & Leon's season's & Fanbase will get their wish from the media that Clean House will happen around Top to Bottom refreshing every position except for Woodcroft's Behind the Bench. So Results Determine Make it or Break it on Kenny Holland down the line.
If the oilers trade for Chychrun, Barrie will be on the outs. So you'd have to replace him with a Schenn. But an Edmonson would be an easier deal to make. Maybe a 3 way deal with montreal and vancouver. Montreal gets Broberg, a 2nd (EDM) a 5th (VAN), and Barrie. Oilers get Schenn and Edmonson. And the Canucks get a 3rd (EDM '24) and 4th (EDM).
The time for patience being over should have been a month ago. Now, even if the Oilers make the playoffs, they will not be in a prime position to have the home game advantage in longer series. This team has wasted another year of 97 and 29s' peak years.
Holland is too conservative when it comes to trades it seems. He can't get it done.

Domi would be a difference maker! Of course we need about 4 new defencemen so, not sure how we can pull off a trade involving 4 of our bottom 6 and 4 or 5 of our D core but we sure need to!

There are rumours that the Oilers could send Jack Campbell to the Blackhawks. If that ends up happening, it might end up being a swap in goaltenders, but do we really want/need Stalock back? Maybe the Oilers plan to look elsewhere for a back-up goalie and the Campbell move brings in Max Domi or Jonathon Toews.
But yeah, JP needs to go, Foegele needs to go, Yamamoto is probably expendable once Kane comes back from injury and Kostin continues to improve his game, Barrie is probably the only defenceman I see getting moved unless Neimelainen is added to a trade package. 97 and 29 are in their primes or getting close to the end of their prime years, and in the three years that you just mentioned with those runs out of the first round, 2006 and 2017 were followed up by not only missing the playoffs, but the team practically embracing tank mode.
couldn't agree more. wouldn't hurt my feelings if we lost all of the other players mentioned for Chychrun to be honest. none are difference makers at this particular time. We need to see McDavid and Draisaitl happy to stay in Edmonton come contract renewal time and with the state of the Oilers for the last while I wouldn't blame them one bit if they ask for a move to a team who really wants to win now, not somewhere in the future. If they both had better line mates like Matthews has they would be much more content.
this should of happened weeks ago. as a paying fan that has season tickets, i feel ripped off by the teams effort on home ice. as a paying fan im not happy how slow ken holland is being with this slump. lack of effort from the office an team 50% chance of play off, is a smack in the face to 97/29
