The team is absolutely a different entity than it was the last 2 years. And the only team that they have played so far that I believe is a true stinker is Montreal. Toronto is having trouble getting going, so we probably caught them at the right time. Ottawa is not the pushover they have been the last couple years. Winnipeg will be right there for a playoff push. And we pushed Boston to the brink, despite it being one of those horrifying 10am games where nobody seemed awake until the 3rd. Like you said, even if all these teams are as bad as the naysayers are proposing, these are the kind of teams the Sharks were not beating the last 2 years.
I heard the TSN crew after the Toronto game (when they weren't raking the Leafs over the coals) saying that the Sharks are the first NHL team in history to start the season 4-0 with all 4 victories vs Canadian teams. Seems odd since their was an entire Canadian division last year. Guess there was no 4-0 team.
Of course the wheels might fall off. It's only 5 games. But there is an energy to build on that will keep them competitive and makes the next couple years much more exciting than I felt was possible.

The Sharks have turned it around with the rookie new blood surge, but game 5 against the Bruins was a big reality check. They have defence and goalie position covered well, but need more scoring power, a big shooter or a top line like Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak. Brodie you have a condition called "digital overload," it is an occupational hazard for media employees and people who work online during the pandemic. The biggest differences are based on Eric Karlsson showing up in his old form and Evander Kane not messing up the team chemistry from inside. I think they should hire Patrick Marleau as an assistant coach and make a trade with Dallas to get Joe Pavalski back to lead the new blood in the Shark family. Could they get Jack Eichel for Evander Kane and some other players/draft picks? That would help even if Eichel does not play much this season, but would Buffalo want Evander Kane back after his troubles? He needs a fresh start somewhere else than on the 4th line for San Jose, but that trade may require divine intervention by the hockey gods.

Great takes Brodie! I haven't seen the Sharks this physical in years! Years, Brodie! Years! I love the team support if a guy gets a little roughed up. They get in their opponents face and stick up for each other and it gives the skill guys a bit more space. They don't have to fight (love that we have Middleton if we need him, but he can play too), and love that there is more hitting. Physical play is a key component to winning games. Love the first 5 games, so far, just hope it can be sustained.
