Ruff having Haula and Wood out for the 6v5 has to be a sign of dementia

  2. KADENGAMES125

Would have been sadder if we weren’t on a back-to-back

  3. BigBusiness1532

I liked it better when we were winning all the time.

  4. Johnborkowski

Haula and Tatar need to be out on the ice in weighted equipment after games Jagr style. They just cannot shoot into the net. Did Binnington have a great night? Yes. Still, they have not been playing at the level of the players on their lines. Have I had a few beers? Yes.

  5. jessejames182

The way they lost was painful. Can’t really be even headed about it. Wish the Metro wasn’t so fucking close right now.

  6. gandaalf

Double the shots and almost double face off wins and still lose by 2. Gotta win these kinds of games, especially at home.

  7. We got out-goalied again. More accurately we got out-finished, which is getting very old. We’re still at the top of the league in high danger scoring chances, but our shooting percentage continues to decline. The boys need to fucking relax, loosen the grip on the stick and bury some of these chances. We don’t have elite shooters but should have plenty of goals based on close slot chances alone

  8. Anonycron

Talented enough to get a lot of high danger chances, not talented enough to score on enough of them.

  9. theketchupthief

I cannot wait to never see Tatar and Haula in Devils jerseys ever again. Tatar reminds me of Euro Michael Ryder

  10. BurnerAccount374

So Jack clearly likes Haula. No other explanation. I’m not asking for Haula to match Jack’s goal totals, I’m just asking for something. Because it feels like over the course of the season Haula’s inability to score has cost the team points.

  11. Thehawkman2

Please explain to me why we saddled our best player with two schmucks?

Haula and Tatar are not top 6 players and yet.

  12. That Mercer breakaway was awesome though…

  13. mxskater

I’m so tired of seeing a blind cross ice pass in the offensive zone or haula trying to do anything. Dude would miss a wide open net from 2 feet away.

  14. TurtleKing48

8 straight losses at home and they all look the exact same: opposing goalie plays lights out while every little mistake ends up in the back of their net.

  15. maqdiaf

Need Bratt back in form, idk what happened but the discount we might get on him now isn’t worth this dip in performance… I’d rather let him dominate and then bankrupt us

  16. majoranticipointment

We gotta get Haula off this team, the staff can’t be trusted with hin

  17. Signal_Strike2770

The « we don’t need wingers » crowd feeling pretty dumb right now

  18. ChannelShot7061

Rough one, but positives are that they still outplayed em.

    See y’all Saturday.

  19. BurnerAccount374

Mercer, at no level of hockey is it acceptable to not get a SoG on a breakaway.

    Bratt, where are you?

Having Palat back is great. Bastian and Marino now pls.

  20. Blind_surgeon89

I’m so tired of watching the other goalie make 35 saves. Binnington stood on his head to keep the Blues in it

  21. bippityboppityzopp

Haula continues to be a fuckin loser, and Hamilton is 80 years old.

  22. Couldn’t watch much of the game tn. How are the Schmid Fans feeling Right now? Don’t want to judge off score line but it doesn’t look great

  23. Aviatrix084

Christ this thread has been up for like 5 minutes and already 67 comments devils fandom is pissed

  24. SteveSauce420

Haula is fucking terrible. Mercer did absolutely nothing on a clean breakaway and that was incredibly disappointing and seemed to be the momentum shift.

  25. IrateBarnacle

I’m so sick of the argument of us “being the better team” when we lose. If we’re not the team getting the points, we weren’t the better team.

  26. DontDraftSmall

Every time we play a physical, heavy team we do poorly. We need more size to get the dirty goals

  27. InfluenceBeginning47

Ruff must owe Haula some serious money. That’s the only logical explanation

  28. Johnborkowski

Some of the passing looked worse than WJC level passes. In some cases, passes getting picked up by the other team, in other cases it was just too many passes.

  29. tECHOknology

Haula does suck, but why is Bratt playing so meek and mild lately? He went from being another hughes level pace and creation to just making safe basic plays. He needs confidence and stride back, maybe the contract is fucking with his head.

  30. stanley_g00dspeed

Not even sure what to say. Just a super frustrating stretch. It’s brutal watching this team play well but struggle to put the puck in the net and then have every fucking mistake we make end in a goal.

And it’s a pattern. It’s happened too often for it to be a coincidence. Thank god we fired off the win streak or we’d be staring down the barrel of another disappointing season.

I don’t know what the hell Ruff is thinking 1) putting two of the coldest finishers on the team on Jack’s wing 2) having Haula out there when we need a goal and he is a total black hole. I don’t think we can objectively blame the loss on coaching but he didn’t do anything to improve our odds.

  31. gleeson630

They lose these games way too often. You can’t have all your goals against be all grade A chances…Schmid had a reasonable chance on one of them. The other team is too mediocre a roster for that.

Im worried about getting frustrated and swept in the playoffs if we can lose games like this regularly. Breakaways have to go in. They can’t constantly be fighting it but out chancing teams.

I can’t feel bad for Haula anymore, he’s not talentless he’s scored 29 goals before but he’s mediocre and broken. Too many easily frustrated players.

  32. imsocooldude

I wish Ruff had the balls to scratch Haula next game.

  33. Laymans_Terms19

Put this squad back in the oven, they aren’t ready yet. Nibble at the edges by selling some spare parts (Severson) at the deadline for futures, embrace the suck, sell your soul for a competent goaltender anywhere between now and next season. Anything more aggressive to win now is pure delusion.

  34. xxfatpigxx

So do we get to call out Schmid for not coming up with enough key stops or is that reserved exclusively for when Blackwood plays?

I want all of our goalies to do well no matter who’s in net but this team is gonna need timely saves when they inevitably have those defensive gaffes in a game where the other goalie is playing lights out and they can’t find the back of the net.

  35. mlutz153

How many pts has Boqvist had since the apt quote?

  36. Down_Rodeo_

Ruff has to go. Seriously, his line usage was ass in this and I have zero doubt it directly led to yet another loss.

His time is way past due. Should’ve happened in the off season when we got brunette.

Bratt and Nico played so little.

  37. PaddyKaner

This team is seriously lacking depth scoring.

Everybody who isn’t Jack, Nico, or Dougie has been invisible.

  38. FURyannnn

Dougie looks like absolute garbage some nights and it feels far too frequent for a #1 defenseman

  39. bippityboppityzopp

Instead of chanting fire lindy, we need to chant fire haula.

  40. dishler712

Are Jack’s faceoffs really that bad that we’ve cemented a guy with 2 goals on the year to his wing? Haula seems like an all right guy and he’s decent in other areas but I really just don’t want to watch him miss on clear chances over and over again. I’m so tired of it.

  41. NJDevil802

Such a stupid loss. Absolutely dominated and lost. Schmid was awful

  42. Zestyclose_Estate248

They shoulda won but the thing that most stuck out was that they keep making really questionable passes across the center of the ice as soon as they break in. They absolutely have to keep the momentum moving towards the goal.

  43. Very obvious Blackwood can’t be relied on and Schmid isn’t ready. Goaltending is going to sink this team again

  44. uticadevil

Next game is Game 40 of the season.

Game after that is the halfway mark.

Fritz identified this part of the season as the time when he is going to evaluate the team and decide what moves need to be made.

Let’s hope something good comes of this.

  45. Kornja81

Remember when Ruff scratched Bratt like a year or 2 ago to find his offensive game and this year was like « 16 minutes isn’t enough ice time? »

In what fucking world does Haula get 20 mins of ice time today (2nd most minutes on forward behind Hughes). And then constantly be rewarded with playing with Hughes when he’s so ass offensively?
