Normally I wouldn’t post an article like this as Wheeler’s comments seem to be stream of consciousness and a bit disjointed, but his comments on the Czech defensemen are noteworthy. I’ve summarized below to avoid breaking any sub rules:

    * **David Jiricek**: Dominant in both ends and against Canada in particular great transition play. Looks to actively influence the game rather than wait for the game to come to him, good first pass, great shot, and improved throughout the tournament. Particularly dominant against Sweden, but decision making needs to be quicker at times
    * **Stanislav Svozil**: Typically considered more defensive but good offensive play this tournament, good vision, skill, and anticipation. Wheeler notes his growth over the past year and says he « looks like a future NHL defenseman to me »

While it’s early, on Martin Rysavy, Wheeler says he « doesn’t have the skill to make finishing plays » and that he’s good as a depth player in juniors but « that’s probably it ».

Edit: I just saw that the [tournament directorate named Jiricek the best defenseman of the tournament as well!](https://twitter.com/scottcwheeler/status/1611189649946337281)
