More respect and appreciation is needed for all umpires/referees in all sports as they are trying to be fair and honest either as professionals or volunteers. They seldom get thanked.
As a referee myself, we give you as much room as we can to move the puck. Can't tell you how many times I've yelled "HEADS UP I'M HERE!" just to get nailed and subsequently yelled at XD. And yes. It hurts.
I would love to hear about my Jets. As someone not from winnipeg it's crazy how overlooked they are everywhere else – and what they have managed to accomplish with all the injuries they've had is impressive. I'm also surprised you didn't mention Wheeler's balls of steel.
They've been without these guys with long term injuries – in Ehler's case he's been out since game 2 of the season.

More than tread water in this time they've managed to win some tough games, they got back Ehlers, Wheeler, Perfetti, and Schmidt last night for the first time against Tampa.

Yeah as a ref, thanks for this. There's been some games I spend upwards of what feels like half the time just getting out of the way. It's so hard to do.
Refs make just as much as players with their betting on games they ref. You can always tell what team they want to win, doesn't always happen but it's obvious that they have money on the games and trying their best for a team to win that they bet on. Well deserved
At this level the players know there are four officials and they are expected to look before they shoot along the boards because that lane is the officials lane. He had other options but the idiot shot the puck at the linesman. No respect.
Too many officials on the ice. Remove one ref and have him sit in between the penalty boxes. Allow both linesmen to call penalties. Problem solved.
Great respect shown here. I admittingly hate on refs to myself all the time. But when I watch other sports (which is kinda rare) I'm reminded how good we NHL fans have it. They are so rarely inaccurate its crazy. Great video.

As a panthers fan watching refs get hit with the puck is always funny mainly because they make the most abysmal calls at our games it’s crazy. Usually the fans cheer at home when a ref gets hit. Always a good time if it’s not a serious injury of course nobody wants them to actually get injured or atleast we can hope nobody does.
